Not to say I like anything about him, but to be scientifically accurate :
hydatid cysts are pork or beef tape worm larvae that go dormant in the brain, if you eat tape worm eggs.
Normal (ie the way the "worm" survives) infection is for livestock animals to eat to the eggs from grass or contaminated feed. The egg then hatches and travels to various parts of the cow or pigs body where it goes dormant in the muscle or sometimes the brain.
This lavel form is what humans eat and then you get an adult worm in the gut.
If you ingest the eggs however such as from eating salad greens that have been fertilized using natural fertilizers with tapeworm eggs in them, you can get the larval form migrating to various parts of your body including the brain or muscles.
Here they go dormant or die and generally cause no problems at all and they are fairly common - people live with them for decades with no problems - not even knowing that they are there unless they have a brain scan for some other condition. They do not eat any part of the host but they may cause local swelling which is not a good thing if it happens inside your skull.
