It will be interesting to see if Trump finds a reason to fire Hegseth over this $45 million [lack of] spectacle.

An interesting story- there was $12 million allocated for road repairs. They had crews working overnight to reinforce the roads that the tanks mowed over. Some of the equipment was transported from Texas and had to be shipped back afterward.

You could see him seething. This low energy yawnfest (see Rubio) only made Trump look weak and impotent (true that).

I suspect that we'll see them move on so fucking quickly from this debacle with some brand new outrage distraction by tomorrow.

But there can be no doubt. Trump and Co. looking out from the stands and seeing a spotty, raggedy crowd across the lawn...troops just walking and none of the really high powered
equipment rolling through the streets to make DC'ers quake and the rest of the world shake has to go down as one of the worst moments of his life.

It's kind of notable that several governors were so afraid of their State's citizens that they pre-emptively sent out their State National Guard to places where their were expected to be No Kings protests.

Case in point:
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Thursday he has ordered the deployment of more than 5,000 Texas National Guard troops, along with more than 2,000 state police, to help local law enforcement manage protests against President Donald Trump and the ongoing federal immigration raids.

Abbott’s announcement did not detail where the troops were sent, but some were seen at a protest Wednesday night in downtown San Antonio near the Alamo. That protest drew hundreds of demonstrators but did not erupt into violence.

Other governors had faith in local law enforcement to handle any trouble at the protests:
Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson, a Democrat, said in a statement June 11 that "we expect that local law enforcement will manage all protests with professionalism, and without interference from the federal government."...

Democratic governors from Illinois, New York and Minnesota repeatedly took swings at Trump for calling in the California National Guard during a House Oversight Committee hearing on June 12.

Illinois Gov. Jay Pritzker said calling in the National Guard needs to be based on a request from local or state law enforcement and that the governor is better suited than the president to know when they are needed.
