A CBS News Poll released Monday morning indicates that 48 percent of the public gives the president a thumbs down on how he's handling talks with federal lawmakers on raising the nation's debt limit, with 43 percent saying they approve of how Obama's handling negotiations.
But only 31 percent of people questioned say they approve of how Democrats in Congress are dealing with the talks, with 58 percent saying they disapprove. And by a 71 to 21 percent margin, the public disapproves of how Republicans in Congress are handling the negotiations.
According to a release from CBS News, 51 percent of Republicans give a thumbs down to how members of their own party are handling the talks, with far fewer Democrats questioned disapproving of how congressional Democrats (32 percent) or Obama (22 percent) are dealing with the negotiations.

These numbers are slipping for the republicans, and I HOPE that they are listening to the public.
let see the DISAPROVAL numbers....
Obama 48
Dem Congress 58
Repub Congress 71
those percentages of all americans show whom and how they blame these groups for the failure of the group to reach a deal.
even the GOP voters have a 51 disaproval of the way their own party is behaving right now.
juxtapose that against the APROVAL RATINGS and it looks even bleaker and less likely that the republicans will be able to hold or take either chamber of congress.
Obama 43
Dem congress 31
repub congress 21
the spread is all negative for all parties, but the degree is startling..
Obama has a 5 point gap between approval and disaproval
Dems in congress have a 27 point spread and...
repubs in congress have a whopping 50 point spread between approval and disaproval.
I think this is easily explained by the fact that only 21 percent of all americans have a problem with the rich and the corporations paying more.
This time period... this early beginnings of the campaigns for elections tend to gell out what the issues are that the public will be focusing on and asking questions about as they consider where their vote is going in 2012.
Medicare and the GOP obstruction on behalf of the richest of the nation are going to wound them in ways we aren't really seeing.
Lets remember that Romney is running anti Obama ads all over ohio as the presidents campaign ran NONE, and Obama is only down in that swing state, with NO campaigning whatsoever, by about four points, which is a statistical dead heat.
IF there was pressure that these toads in congress COULD be affected by, I have to believe that it is self preservation.
