this is a very interesting poll as im a sociologist who has done a research on interracial dating pattern in north america. however, it is in america, a primarily white society and all the other ethnic groups are marginalized. so dont look at it from a racist perspective.

In perusing the race thread below this one, I'm astounded at the overwhelming number of minority gays who assert that they like/prefer/want white guys. I myself had no idea that the phenomenon was this prevalent, and I find the trend to be disturbing to say the least.

In any case, it's made me want to research the subject further, but for that, I'll need more empirical data.

I'd like to make this pseudo-scientific so I'll be utilizing a poll to question the racial and/or ethnicity of your ideal mate (includes hooking up as well as dating) as well as your ethnicity. Generally speaking, I'd surmise that an individuals' hookup preference would be the same as their dating preference, since mutual attraction is involved.

Everyone can participate in this, and I ask for honest feedback, because it will all be anonymous. Yes, as all the racial threads do, this can get heated, but I ask that we communicate in a respectful manner. The questions are as follows:

Race isn't an issue with me, but there are a few I find really attractive. Like Arabs, Latins, Blacks, Mixed, Asian, Southern Europeans, Northern Euopeans, Australians, Mutts .... mmmm... who have I left out?

I'm black and prefer black guys but I've liked every kind of guy. When I was younger I only liked black guys though. Then I went through a phase when I liked white guys a lot until I started watching porn and all the guys started looking so much alike that I lost interest. So now I'm more into Black/Latino.

Besides, I'm sure there are a lot less black men here on JUB than white guys. So...we're not getting the same amount of representation from black guys in comparison to white guys who are voting. I think we need a more level playing field before we make that sort of assumption- although, in the real world sometimes...the poll results seem to be true.

I think the amount of black guys voting is irrelevant. Regardless of how many are voting, look at what their voting for.

The long and short of this (and the countless related threads) is this: Overall (generally speaking), your European white male is the preferred ethnicity when it comes to dating preference (and other things).

Why? Well, that's a whole another subject.
