Poll: Trump less popular than lice, still backed by GOP voters

The states are more than welcome to forgo the federal funding and to see their policy on transgender and the rest of the proscriptions against homos wend its way up to the Supreme Court level.

That is a choice they can make.
Of course, if that choice is made, the budgeting cuts will ALWAYS be targeted to harm the students who are poor, impaired, or handicapped - subsidized lunches and special programs are ALWAYS the first things to go.

Will the Friday football games, and other athletics, be cut? NEVER.

You have also reminded us, rareboy, HOW IMPORTANT the Supreme Court issue is this year. Though I have MSNBC or CNN on as "background noise" much of the time, it's at least three weeks, I think, since I've heard anybody discuss the Supreme Court. Is it going to be a completely forgotten issue AGAIN this year?

There is NO other political issue that is even close to the Supreme Court, this year, in this country. The balance on the Supreme Court is the "mother of all issues" forever and ever, at least within our lifetimes.

You forget that the DOJ has already filed a lawsuit aganst North Carolina to force compliance. If the dems get to appoint a fifth justice, the Court will lie and say the Constitution entitles boys to share lockers with girls.
If you try to look at it honestly you will see that the Feferal government is not functioning as a democracy. If course you blame it on the Republicans, but the fact is we are losing our democracy.

The law NC passed is flagrantly, eyesearingly unconstitutional and a totally naked bigot assault on human rights. Trying to bar a whole group of people from using the bathroom, on phantom vapor unsubstantiated beliefs that these people are either perverse or dangerous.

The fact that opposing a law like THIS is what brings out your outrage, in light of the many many years you have been on this forum and all of the policies you defended such as waterboarding, shows what a disgusting human being you are.

@ Benvolio

Nonsense. Just because all the pearl clutchers over at Stormfront want to pretend that they now live in a totalitarian dystopia. the reality is that the Federal government has the right to challenge states over civil rights.

This is all only about the hysteria of the religious right over the re-shaping of the Supreme Court with a majority of liberal justices.

DOE and DOJ issuing a letter of guidance declaring that discrimination has no place in the public schools of the US should be applauded instead of feared. It strikes back a blow against the hateful discrimination that seems to ooze up out of the southern baptist states.

Your pain makes me happy.

^ GREAT post!!

Why does it have to be a Canadian who reminds us how important the Supreme Court is?

This should be the big issue that is sweeping the land but, instead, it's swept under the carpet.

It is all about the Supreme Court. A president may leave other legacies...but shaping the Supreme Court can have a profound impact on the direction that the nation will take for decades...as the Scalia cabal has reminded us again and again over the last decade.

I assume you think that legislating who and who can't use a toilet is not overreach.
What does it say in the Bible? Nada.
Also, does North Carolina hope to ban trans people from unisex toilets?

If there is a dispute, it should be decided by the democratic process not by dictatorship. There is no reason why the wishes of a tiny minority of men who want to hang out in the women's locker room should outweigh the thousands of women who want privacy away from male eyes. Schools should not encourage or allow kids to make the life altering decision to go through life masquerading as the opposite sex. They cannot have a pleasant experience in school as the outsiders they inevitably will be. Yeah, liberals will say all the other kids must endure brainwashing so they will accept the outsiders, but it really will not solve the problem.

Those aren't "men who wish to hang in women's locker rooms". It's women.!

And it wasn't so long ago that similar spiteful crap was spouted against gays. But of course you wouldn't care either way because you're about as gay as you are trans. Or a lawyer...

.
I HAVE (another) DREAM...
The Democratic Convention is deadlocked. Along comes Elizabeth Warren on her white steed and removes the sword from the stone. ;)

I can hear her quoting Eleanor Roosevelt: "This is no ordinary time."

“There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?”
- Robert F. Kennedy

"To sleep, perchance to dream." (The Bard of Avon)

Damn! That is so HOT! I want you to fuck me Chrisrobin! :gaysex:

A tiny minority of men hold the power to discriminate and control the bodily functions of others.
The preponderance of slack jawed yokels has been proven time and again to be a dangerous means to define the rights of tiny minorities. Republicans know it, it's easy to rally a bunch of rednecks.

If there was a democratic referendum of citizens as to whether to kill all gays, I'm not confident some of these same states wouldn't vote for tyranny.

This is nonsense.

American Government wasn't even structured this way, so you expose your hypocrisy by calling for direct 'democracy'.

This argument isn't even about who can piss where. It was a false flag operation. The real bills are loaded with reductions or destruction of the civil rights of lgbt people and the imposition of religious doctrine over civil rights.

At some point, the cases will arrive at the Supreme Court and at that time, the third branch of the American Government will have the chance to rule on not only the right of people to use the toilet that matches their gender identity, but also on the broader issue of states imposing legislation that could erode the civil rights of any group of individuals without cause.

You also expose your own narrow ignorance on the subject by wanting schools to engage in repression of a person's own choice of gender identity. You are probably not aware that there are hospital based programs for children and teens in the US that help children and their families adjust to the realization that a person may not identify with the sex implied by their external sex organs.
What you are demanding is that people be forced to 'masquerade' as being of a gender they do not identify with...leading to depression and anxiety...now you tell me who is doing more harm to children.

You have no intellectual or moral authority on this subject.

This is so typical. You are totally focused on the alleged "right" of the tiny minority to undress and shower with the girls and you give no consideration at all to the rights of the much larger majority of girls to sexual privacy, who will feel very unconfortable being forced to undress with boys. In your twisted way of thinking, only minority members have rights.
The law was enacted by the North Carolina legislature through out democratic process, by legislators elected by the people to enact laws, and its views in this case undoubtedly reflect the views of the vast majority of the people. It balances the rights of a everyone involved. Boys shower with body, girls with girls. Hussein is not authorized to make laws and his extremist views are contrary to those of the people.
We are losing our democracy and it is fine with the democrats.

This wasn't even about showering or changing....which shows how distorted the dumb as fuck an ignorant voter base can be.

This was a Trojan Horse Bill. Cleverly designed to keep people focussed on one thing, while implementing a host of other ugly provisions.

The law not only reverses a Charlotte ordinance that had extended some rights to gay and transgender people. It also prevents city and county governments from setting a minimum-wage standard for private employers and limits how people can sue for discrimination in state court. And it contains a provision allowing for remaining parts of the law to stand if others are struck down in court.

Those provisions, opponents say, are pernicious attempts to roll back rights, and they have been tucked into a bill that has a very different public face.

“This is not about bathrooms. It’s about whether or not you can codify hate and discrimination into the laws of the state,” said the Rev. William Barber II, who leads the North Carolina NAACP and is also fighting the state over its voter-identification law.

At least one legislator who voted for it said he didn’t realize all that the law encompassed. North Carolina state Rep. George W. Graham Jr., who represents Lenoir County and voted for the bill, told the Raleigh News and Observer that he didn’t know until after the vote that the legislation dealt with issues of minimum wage and discrimination suits.

People like you have somehow got it in your heads that children are going to be forced to strip down and bare their genitals every time they use a cubicle in a washroom. It simply isn't the case. But it is the type of hysterical ravings that get the attention and instil fear in parents. Or...just as likely, people like you are fully aware that pissing isn't the real issue and are out there making noise to distract people from what was really going on with this bill.

And it is so typical of the ignorant and hateful to insist that minorities not only be hurt, but that they are seen to be be hurt and punished in some way.

As I noted...with the incredibly thin knowledge that you apparently have about the bill and the real issues...you have no legitimate arguments to present....you are just riding the issue like another hobby horse of the Apocalypse in order to bark at the black man in the white house.

Nonsense. 'Every time they use a cubicle in a washroom" is your concept not mine. The liberal agenda encompases locker rooms, and showers, as logically it must. If sharing the locker room is a "basic civil right", how can the shower not be? Do all locker rooms--or any--have cubicles? Few do. If the tax payers are going to be forced to provide all bathrooms, locker rooms , and showers with cubicals , then let the boys use the cubicals in the boys rooms. The need to lurk in the girls room disappears.
As for all these supposed "rights", they are not rights until the law says they are rights.. They are not a rights just because they are on your wish list. Other people have their own wish lists, equally or more valid. Girls wish for the right to privacy away from male eyes. Employers wish to hire the best person for their job.

I well realise that any appeal to common decency will be lost on you. While I also realise that truth isn't a big selling point for you, either, in the interest of truth it seems like your statement should contain some clause, some notation, some sub-clause, or at the very least a footnote mentioning engineered legislative majorities -- a process under which a legislative majority of one party is obtained (in fact, guaranteed) even where the majority of voters cast votes for the other party, as that has some local application in this instance.

For someone who has claimed to be a lawyer, there seems to be a fundamental lack of understanding on your part as to how law works and how the government functions under the American system. You also seem to be all over the place in trying to speak out of both sides of your mouth at the same time. You decry tyranny, yet you also speak in favour of tyranny of the majority. You claim to endorse rule of the majority, yet you decry that very thing from an executive who was elected by a majority of the voters not once but twice. And you can, or should, stop before you make any more idiotic claims about the executive making laws. It doesn't happen under the American system, and to claim it does simply betrays ignorance of how government both works and functions. If you actually believe what you say you do, then perhaps you should consider going back for a few (or many) refresher courses on law and government.

Lastly, to make the claim that America is losing its democracy is to once again betray ignorance. America is not nor has it every been a democracy. It is a republic. If you don't know or don't understand the difference, again a few refresher courses may be in order.

You must really despise that part of the Declaration of Independence that says "all men are created equal" -- the thought clearly gives you the creeps. What a travesty, that so many people have been "brainwashed" into thinking that was meant to be put into practice!

Good point. Those citizens would be the wolves in Benjamin Franklin's description of democracy -- hopefully, in such a case, gays would turn to being the "well-armed lamb disputing the vote".

We are losing our democracy and it is fine with the democrats.

You argue like a liberal: this is the same argument made by people who want to ban guns, and all the other ways people want to control others for the sake of their feelings.

You only invoke democracy when it serves your purpose; you only invoke rights when it fits your prejudices. Such inconsistency is enough to lose a high school junior debate by default.
