Introduction:
This piece of music was composed by Jean Michel Jarre for his album 'Rendez-vous'. It was to be featured as the last segment of the album and was named 'The Last Rendez-vous'. It was composed specifically for astronaut and saxophonist Ron McNair to be the first-ever music performed and recorded in space. Ron, unfortunately, was aboard the ill-fated Challenger shuttle.
The piece was recorded and performed by another artist and the segment was dedicated to Ron. It was listed in the track listing as "Dernier Rendez-vous (Ron's Piece)". In English, "Last Rendez-vous (Ron's Piece)".
The music is haunting, especially the incessant heartbeat. This live concert recording was made just over 8 months after Ron died in the Challenger disaster on January 28, 1986.

gsdx, GREAT POST...and, as far as Jean Michel Jarre, I always liked his Oxygene songs. I actually know little more about him.
This made me laugh.
"Why is it when a svelte, smooth-chested, swimmer-type guy goes jogging shirtless on a scorching Orlando summer day, it is said of him that his luscious perspiration, glistening in the sunlight, gleefully beckons adoring tongues to lap up his liquid masculinity from a bronzed canvas of sensual, sun-drenched flesh, but when a big boned (read: fat) guy like me does the same thing the only thought it brings to anyone’s mind is, “Christ that tub of lard sweats like a fucking pig!?”

Wow...just wow! Now THAT would be great to see in person. He got a good head start in the music business. You are probably familiar with his father's music. Maurice Jarre (pronounce 'zjahr') composed the score for 'Lawrence of Arabia' and every David Lean film after that, including 'Dr. Zhivago' and 'A Passage to India'. In later years, he composed scores for Harrison Ford's 'Witness' and a small film entitled 'Ghost'.
This is my favourite concert piece. This one will get your feet dancing and your head bouncing. It's full of energy, great music, enormous puppets, fireworks, and eye candy by the truckload.
Jean-Michel's 'Calypso'.
