^ OK. Sometimes it's nice to sink onto a nice comfy musclebound escort whose curvy butt matches our curvy bits.

I so hate chester armchairs... in fact, to me, one of the most hateful things in the world. They are the epitome of barbaric bad taste and decadence.

better that than efficiency...practicality...pragmatism...economy... ugh to all of that; a far worse conceit in my books.

The worse part of chesters is the leather: what the fuck is comfortable about a pinching and farting material?

I find that the 7% figure for HIV prevalence in 18-19 year olds somewhat disturbing. It shows that the younger members of the adult population have been failed by education. If only it were mandatory that all 18 year old school kids are given advice on STDs prevention.

Well:

1.- it would seem more logical to think that the younger, more inexperienced, with more heated-up hormones would be those with a relatively higher degree of infection but, then...

2.- how would you reach those twenty-something percentages in adults if they didn't start young..?

In any case, it's sadder when you get infected by accident... of whatever sort, and the younger ones are still, after all, less exposed to the opportunity of ever falling: maybe that's why they end up catching up at older stages of their lives.

And what about the supposedly wiser "50 and over"... doesn't that verify the still not common observation that older people today are simply older young punks with a general sag in their bodyhide and even less brains that they may have had back in their teens?

the figures can't be per 100, must be per 100,000

I've had more than one person question these figures, insisting taht the HIv infection rate for gay men is far below even a tenth of one percent. The figures are from CDC, based on those twenty-one US metropolitan areas. I suppose it's possible that their data collection is utterly suspect, and/or they pumped the figures higher to fit their own agenda. I'm not convinced, though.

…I can imagie it's the same mistake which happened decades ago regarding the iron content of spinach.

The CDC misplaced a decimal point, and are basing theit entire HiV fight around some bad math? I guess it's possible. :)

Does anyone actually take literally all those surveys with a very arithmetical wrapping? I always assume that it is a mere way of saying "this very much" and "that not that much"... and that assuming they even get that bottom line right, beyond what the actual math may be.

In any case, I never expect to get real accurate "depictions" or studies of "reality" from public reports.

Exactly! Just like I don't expect to get real accurate "depictions" or studies of "reality" from persons labelling themself as 'bi'.

Lies, damned lies, and statistics.

"What's two plus two?"
"What kind of answer are you looking for?"

Maths are like literature or religious/philosophical/essay books: they are entertaining and even exhilarating in print, and they may sometimes truly help to improve some parts of this world, but the bulk of their daily practical use IRL is basically weaponry of mind destruction.

"The English character is incomplete in a way that is particularly annoying to the foreign observer. It has a bad surface – self-complacent, unsympathetic, and reserved. There is plenty of emotion further down, but it never gets used. There is plenty of brain power, but it is more often used to confirm prejudices than to dispel them. With such an equipment the Englishman cannot be popular. Only I would repeat: there is little vice in him and no real coldness. It is the machinery that is wrong."
