Jobs' response was not "disastrous": it rather shows the "disaster" that today's economy is, particularly in the USA, because it throws out bluntly that it is all about selling, not producing good stuff.

That may be "disastrous" for those who believe it is all about hard work and good work, but it is not: it is just about selling, no matter what.

And that actually goes beyond the economy, because the products and the selling it is being talked about are only a means to grab the masses by pleasuring them: in other times it was all about religion, God... now you take a ball-tosser or a gadget-peddler and put them in the place of a cult or a god.

Finally, the ranting of the guy shows how pampered people are today, figuring out that by being "educated" and "devoted" to some particular job, you deserve a reward and a good place in the universe, that you feel you have all the right in the cosmos to demand in your benefit... which actually brings us back to the religion field.

So, more than any relation with some rosy-colored view of him because of what came afterwards, it actually shows how (at what cost, if your prefer) that "afterwards" comes to be.

Jobs' response was not "disastrous": it rather shows the "disaster" that today's economy is, particularly in the USA, because it exposes bluntly that it is all about selling, not about offering the best products one can achieve. That is why the economy is mostly about financial products, even junk or 'non-existent' products: you get to produce sellable trash at a much lower cost than factories.

That may be "disastrous" for those who believe that business is all about hard work and good work, that "you build and they will come" to it, but it is not, FAR from it: it is just about selling, no matter what, how matter how.

And that actually goes beyond the economy, because the products and the selling it is being talked about are only a means to grab the masses by pleasuring them: in other times it was all about religion, God... now you take a ball-tosser or a gadget-peddler and put them in the place of a cult or a god.

So, more than any relation with some rosy-colored view of him because of what came afterwards, it actually shows how (at what cost, if your prefer) that "afterwards" ever came to be.

In short, "excellence" is too much work to produce, too much too reproduce, even more to make it acceptable, desirable, marketable.

From the official sountrack of JUB, the unofficial official anthem.

Even if it turns to shit from here, our little country of 5 million :luv:.

YES!! It's an absolute triumph for a couple of small treasure islands, with a disgraceful shitty location in the ass of the world, to be placed among the 12 best Olympic countries, which usually are the dozen greater powers of the world ..|

Anyway, New Zealand is the only place that excels in quality of life as a whole country, not being some stupid valley forgotten by history in The Middle of Nowhere Central Europe and, whenever Humanity would be decimated or even annihilated by a plague, it would be the last nation on the list, so it's not like you would need much more to feel proud of being a kiwi

I am somewhat curious to learn whether pornoboy's pics in the Splendour thread are showing at least to him.

Again, the expression is not "Georgian" but "late Edwardian-early Georgian" and, again, one can not be "confused" by that unless one is half-ignorant in British history.
You are parsing my text in the patched-up fashion typical of the quarter-witted AI of a Google Translate or the average "intelligent" text processor.
I used that expression for accuracy's sake, because I was referring to the specific fashions of 1909-1914, which fit the styles featured in the video: notice how some references to "Edwardian fashion" are illustrated by dresses produced only starting in 1909-1910, therefore more typical of the reign of George V.
What are typically called Edwardian fashions, with S-shape, Gibson girls and all that, do not look the same at all, yet it is not actually "wrong" to call "Edwardian" a very different style in fashion during the last year of his reign.

I thought Georgian referred to the reigns of Georges I through IV.

^ Actually, it's Georgian era, and referring to the reigns of the FOUR Georges: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgian_era

First off, it's George I to George IV and, second, it is usually referred to Georgian era, or Georgian style of Architecture, crafts, even fashion and the like; finally, it's so commonly applied to that WHOLE ERA that most people, like you, believe it is exclusive to those reigns, and can not be applied to the two subsequent Georges... which, like you too, most people can't get right, and always drop one George or two. For common people, what is not common to them is not right, because "they have never heard it".
If we are talking early XXth century, there is no possible confusion: it would be confusing if used isolatedly, but not associated to the Edwardian era in the particular way I did.
In any case, if that had really been the issue, you would have pointed it out right away.
