This may seem like some kind of bragging, but in the past 60 days I've had two very strange things happen to me while playing Scrabble at the club. I don't expect either of these to happen again in my lifetime, and I actually think a recurrence of the second one is less likely than the first:
1. On December 26, I bingoed (emptying all seven letters from the rack) on FOUR consecutive turns in the same game. Such a play adds 50 points to the value of the word you play.
2. This past Sunday, I bingoed twice in one game. Early in the game, I played ABATING. Near the end of the game, I played (ABATING). HIGHLIGHT between the parentheses to see the second word that I played in that game.
Has either of these ever happened to any of you, or an opponent or somebody you were observing?
What I have NOT seen yet, ever, is somebody playing a "TRIPLE-TRIPLE" (with one or more letters on the perimeter between two Triple Word Scores, and a player adding all seven of their letters to make a word eight or more letters long which hits both of those spaces). I don't care if I play it or an opponent plays it against me. If somebody plays it against me, they're probably gonna get a big hug from me (if it's in person and not being played online of course).
