Getting ready to go to my friend's loft and check out the papers for his bengal kitten that he wants to give me. If she is indeed four generations away from her leopard roots, I can take her. If not I have to try and convince him to forgo the money he paid for her and let me take charge and steer her towards a rescue group that will place her. Otherwise he will try and sell her on Craigslist.

I'm not even sure I'm ready for another cat yet, much less the 18 months of chaos a six month old kitten will bring.

I have no idea what to do.

La diferencia entre ricos y pobres ha sido siempre la misma: la conexión con el estado, y cuando el estado pierde la conexión directa con quienes se creen el estado por obra y gracia del mágico derecho natural, entonces esos supuestos desposeídos, antiguos oKupas, según otros, claman contra lo que para ellos es, hoy, "comunismo", como hace doscientos años era "voltairismo" o "liberalismo" (antes de acabar siendo azul, el liberalismo había comenzado siendo rojo), o antes "herejía", "villanía", "comunerismo"...

Esa conexión no necesita ser un conchabamiento consciente aunque, evidentemente, siempre hay mucho de eso: se trata simplemente de ir a la par con los tiempos, y hay quien cree que tener una cierta educación o codearse o, simplemente, coincidir casualmente con cierta gente o instituciones importantes del momento, le coloca automáticamente a uno a esa altura.

De lo que se queja la gente que pretende (o cínica o muy, muy, muy ingenuamente) que "la mala gestión", el enchufismo, las cortapisas, la carga de impuestos, etc. son inventos y decadencias rojas recientes, está ignorando (repito, bien ingenuamente, bien perfectamente a sabiendas) que está describiendo el "estado natural de las sociedades", y de lo que se quejan realmente es de haber nacido en un momento histórico que les pilla con su filiación con el paso cambiado pero, sobre todo, les pilla con la ignorancia que querer imitar los modos de una época (querer ser "empresario", por ejemplo) no se consigue si no tienes una capacidad que se puede potenciar, pero nunca enseñar y "transmitir" en ninguna escuela o entorno familiar.

Oh no...I was actually hoping/fantasizing that he would offer her to me, because I knew he wouldn't want to keep her. It's good having wealthy friends: they give you stuff..like $1000 exotic cats.

Alas, I probably will not be able to take her. Too many problems. But he has someone else lined up for her. A proper cat person, like me. So everybody wins.

Plus, I'm going to keep her here for three weeks while he's away next month. Kind of a test run. It's going to be great.
