Post something just for the heck of it

"selective hearing"

My dogs have it. Come here dammit is taken as a hint. "Who wants a snack" takes a few CPU cycles.... like dogs are running a 286 CPU and we're on a Pentium 90. But here they come for a snack.
Lots of fun.
Knox spent 16 days with a cone and either forgot some commands or is pretending he forgot them.

Silly pup.

She was actually 67; she hiked it in '55.

Based on a National Geographic article's rosy descriptions, she thought "it would be a nice lark. It wasn't." She continued, "This is no trail. This is a nightmare. For some fool reason, they always lead you right up over the biggest rock to the top of the biggest mountain they can find." She only finished because she had said she was going to.

Some say that it was because of her comments and the publicity she and those comments got that local clubs all along the Trail worked on it, enough so that on her second through-hike two years later she reported substantial improvement.

Also impressive, when she was 71 she hiked the full 2k miles of the Oregon Trail from Independence, Missouri to Portland, Oregon.

She is noted as being the first person to hike the entire Appalachian Trail three times and was the inspiration for the lightweight through-hiker movement.

Something she is known for among hikers is the Gatewood Cape, which has been adopted by the U.S. military.

/\ What did she do about food and water?

Did she pack food, forage, or rely on other hikers for handouts?
