I hope she dies on the porch --

There, in the dappled dayshine,

Beneath the billowing banner

Where she spent so many hours,

Lying languid, silent staring

Across her kingdom.



Her ears betray her –

Ever cocked at the ready,

Scanning the ground below

For a rustle, a scurry, a flitter.

No rodent, bug, or bird

Escapes her plotting eye.

By her, ALL must DIE!!!



For, I know if she ends there,

Her last dream will be

A happy one, and free

To stalk and pounce and play

For all nine eternities.

So, I hope she dies

On the porch.
 
^ I took our cat Ruby out to lay on the table on the terrace on the day she died at 21 years of age so that she could enjoy the warmth of the sun and the gentle breeze that day....this really hit the mark.
