[An account for those who are interested since I tend to see people inquiring about it and what not. Even I looked through similar posts for info before I had the procedure]

I was officially diagnosed with Phimosis in the middle of January of this year. I've known of my condition for awhile now but never went to the doctor. He pretty much said circumcision was the way to go. I hesitated at first but decided to go ahead with the operation seeing as how I felt it was the only solution since I've never been able to retract my foreskin fully while erect. <<on a side note; I also had an odd looking bruise on part of the tight foreskin that was very unappealing, so being able to rid myself of that would be a plus>>

I had the operation this past thursday on the 17. I was a little scared at first but the last thing I remember is being rolled into the operating room with the overhead lights. Next thing I know I wake up feeling woozy from the anesthesia. I can barely walk for a good bit and am wheelchaired out of the building. As I get into my car I can feel area begin to sting. Let me tell you, it is an uneasy feeling seeing your member with all the stitches and scarline; It wasn't too bad though. It is very hard to pee during the first couple of days afterwards. Sometimes you get a steady stream, other times you'd think you're handling an uzi as it just tends to spray in every direction
(I'd also like to mention that there was never really much bleeding in my case. Even on the first day there was barely a drops worth of blood on my gauze; other than that just a small red opening on a stitch here and there but never any trickling)

I slept pretty well the first day and night when the operation was performed. Didn't have too much trouble seeing as how the medication was still kicking.
Around day 2-4 were horrible, walking and sleeping became tasks that had to be done carefully or else you would get small jolts of pain (Nothing really painful just very uncomfortable). Sleeping was pretty hard no pun intended and by that I mean the only thing keeping you up are the random erections at the middle of the night. I would wake up every other hour with a stinging/burning sensation just to find out its my body trying to get a boner. I usually had to lay there in bed and try to make it go away, its the only way I could sleep. It might just be me but I've read elsewhere that its a main problem people have as far as a good nights rest goes. It becomes very bothersome and annoying after waking up various time for the same reason.

Day5 after the operation was my first time back at work. I was still walking a little odd, I'm surprised no one brought it up. It took me until later that night to realize that the only thing still making it uncomfortable to walk and what not were the stitches on my member. They tend to rub and prick at the head of my penis which can be painful at times. I had phimosis, so the are glans very very sensitive.
(Oh and during the end of the fifth day I realized that the swelling around and under my glans went away. Some of my foreskin was still able to cover a small portion of the glans.)

Right now its 4am where I'm from and you can say its the beginning of day6. I've taken a shower and things are beginning to feel better. I have yet to feel any discomfort in the last couple of hours. I think I'm at the point where things can only get and feel better. Ever since I saw my penis after the first couple of days I can say I'm actually pleased with the way it looks>>apart form the stitches and such. I can't wait for the day I can use it again! ;)
Its such a bother not even being able to get fully erect, and thats pretty much the worst part out of everything for me. I will say I'm happy I went through with the surgery. Don't let my stories of pain here and there scare you. Its more of a discomfort than anything else.

I was circumcised when I was 18, to this day I feel the urge to cross my legs anytime someone says the word. When the doctor came to my room to remove the bandages, he said it would be better if I stood up, but make sure that I stay close to the bed just in case, as soon as he removed the bandages, I took one look and fainted! The recovery was difficult and like you said it was those painful erections that nearly killed me with pain. I was in college at the time and while walking was uncomfortable, the most difficult part was wearing underwear or pants at all, so I spend a lot of time in class simply standing up against the back wall. People look at me funny but what can you say?

It sounds like things are getting better. Do erections still wake you up or have you found a way to, umm, relieve them?

I have been going to work for the last 2 days... The first day was pretty bad, I couldn't even walk right. I'm sure my co workers were wondering what was wrong with me. The second was actually pretty alright, most of the day I couldn't feel much discomfort.

I thought things were getting better but really the worst was yet to come which was last night. Some of the stitches have started falling off, which makes for an odd sensation. I swear I had these two erections and woWWw they hurt
I seriously didn't want to go back to sleep just because I knew it was going to happen again since it always does.... and it did. There is nothing I can do to relieve any of these 'woodies. I just have to sit there and hold it, make sure it doesn't move around and just wait for it to go away. No fun.

A stitch tends to fall out every now and then. I can't wait til the day when there aren't any left. I would take pictures but really anytime I have a chance to lie down I take it. I haven't been doing much other than work. I just come home, eat and rest.. waiting for it to heal. :/

I've looked into this myself, and spoken to a few people who've gotten it done later in life. The stitches are usually ready to come out about 7 days after the operation, so the painful erections are just about over, so that's the good news. The bad news is that it's probably going to be at least another 2-3 weeks before you can masturbate again. :-\

Well I'm about to enter my tenth day tomorrow morning. I haven't really noticed any stitches coming out or becoming loose ever since a couple days ago. I hope the painful erections end soon! !oops!. For two days now I've been sleeping in a slouched seated position on my bed just because I found that its less painful to have an erection and to just wait for it to die down in this AWKWARD position. I haven't had any as bad as on I believe it was the 6th day (on that night when I held it in place to let it die down, I could LITERALLY feel it pulsing... it was to the point where it was throbbing and no, I am no exaggerating). Its still very nerve wracking knowing you're going to wake up around 3 times a night because of it.

Work has been so so. Sometimes I'm too uncomfortable to walk, other times I'm up for moving some heavy items around.

Idk how I'm doing it, I get so stressed having something turn me on only because It hurts when it does. It does bother me that I can't umm relieve myself, but more that I'm not even allowed an actual boner at the moment. I don't think I've ever in my life gone this long without a boner. So as of today I still haven't seen what my member looks like while fully erect or with all the inner/outer foreskin spread about the shaft . I'm going to lay low this weekend, hopefully I'll see some results.
Wish me luck, I'm trying to stay hopeful for some significant improvement.

WOW!! It must be absolutely awful going through such pain and restlessness WHILE getting up and traveling to work at the same time.

At the moment, I'm in a different and less-extreme situation, but I'm learning that lots of physical activity significantly slows penile healing. Maybe you need to take off work? Of course we can't always do this...

Last year I got a hard-to-heal genital piercing, and my body hasn't been taking it too well. I know what you mean about suppressing arousal to spare yourself pain, in public and in private. It can take quite an emotional toll on a person!!

Riding buses, catching trains, and surviving subways are all the more stressful when I need to travel, so I can only imagine your going to work is something of a bitch, no??? Maybe if you use public transit, you could try and find someone to take you?

Kudos to you for staying strong through it - it's going to get better eventually, you've got to remember that! (*8*)

I'm no doctor Spiffy but after this many days I say cut and remove the stitches yourself.......or have a friend do it for you....... (!)

If that's you in your avatar I'm thinking there would be plenty of volunteers....... ;)

volunteers....... ;)

You might call your surgeon if there are still stitches. Most of the time, they will use a self-dissolving stitch. The stitches should have all dissolved by now if this is the case. Otherwise, you need an office visit to have them removed.

By the way, you can ejaculate. You just can masturbate in a way that stretches your foreskin or your glans. Of course, after the surgery most guys don't really want to jack-off for a couple of weeks. But you're close to halfway through that period since most surgeons allow sexual activity after 4-6 weeks.

You should be taking pictures of your recovery, though.

Yes alli-berri it does take an emotional toll on a person and I never considered that possible with this procedure. I've looked into the surgery before but never really into the recovery time afterward... and what comes with the recovery. PAIN.
I tried using my vacation at work but it was denied due to there being a sale coming up :/. I was not happy about coming back to work on monday. ~Just another manic monday. You should see me get into my car. I look like an 80yr old man trying to sit down by the wheel. I try to walk, sit and basically do everything else as comfortable as I can. Thanks, I think its getting better so hopefully its just downhill for now.

Lol, yes that's me in my avatar
I actually decided to go ahead and clip and pull some out right after I showered. They bled a little but I heard that's whats expected. There is still a couple and mainly the one on the frenulum, which I dare not touch. Too scared :(

I have a follow up appointment on monday soo I'm just going to hold off on anything else til then. I actually tried to ejaculate the other day in the shower but anytime I do anything to it, it just wants to get harder and fully erect. Which is pretty much impossible lately and only adds more pain.

I would've thought they would of at least mentioned something to ease late night erections . Nothing though, maybe because at the time they prescribed me some semi strong pain killers.

OMG I never thought of looking that up! (*8*) I just looked up tips on how to do it naturally with no substances. I think I'll probably take a light dose of one of the lighter medicines that are available. God knows I'll take a 1% improvement at least.

You can see the stitches on the second one. Those damn stitches from hell.

Your incision line looks healthy. Did they give you instructions to put either petroleum jelly or an antibiotic ointment on the suture line keep the area moist?

I was informed to use some OTC Neosporin, which I have been using quite generously at first but now I'm trying to not gunk it up so much. I feel my foreskin is a bit ummm "thick" its like 3 layers compared to the hidden pink foreskin that its attached to. I was wondering if thats normal or not.

I'm glad to say today was the first day where my circumcision scar and healing weren't really much of a bother. I did remove most of the stitches myself yesterday which was a bit of a chore since some were tightly knotted. It was such an odd sensation slowly pulling a string out of my member just watching it get longer right before it comes out fully.

I still have mine wrapped up with a nonstick gauze and a second layer of a piece of cloth that doesn't really come in contact with the skin. I was told to remove my gauze after the initial 24hrs which I did. I was never told to re-wrap it, but I did anyways as the hyper sensitivity can be very excruciating at times. I've tried several times to just walk around with briefs and no gauze or cloth yet quickly gave in to the discomfort and wrapped it again shortly thereafter. This has happened around 3 times already. I wrap it with new gauze everyday (and reapply neosporin as well).

My follow up appointment is tomorrow, I'm a little nervous as to what my doctor will say when he checks it....

As to what your doctor might say.....I predict he's going to say "LOVELY......just LOVELY"....... ;)

The gauze is fine. Just change it after each shower. What I usually recommend is that- if the scabs are sticking to the gauze is to wet it in the shower and remove it there. Dry the area well after the shower, reapply the Neosporin ointment and rewrap it.

Keeping the incision site moist with an ointment will speed healing and reduce scarring. The gauze will help keep the ointment off your underwear (and as you noted, it will help keep things from rubbing against your clothing when you're active during the day).

I shower daily so I've been changing it everyday at least once, sometimes more than that. Thanks Karabulut, I wasn't sure if keeping it moist would really help or not.

Soo I finally ended up being able to relieve myself this past sunday night. It was odd since it was my first time without the benefit of having enough skin to give it a good tug. It was also a bit soon since I had the operation less than 2 weeks ago. I just couldn't resist. Lets just say it hurt a little at first but then afterwards... ummm WOW :D. Idk if it was the fact that I haven't been fully erect for more than a week or because of its new form, but I swear that was one of the best orgasms I've ever had, if not entirely the best. I can't describe how but it just felt different from how it previously felt before. BETTER.

The next day on monday I did go to the follow up and the doc said that 'it couldn't look any better and it looks like what its supposed to look like' Yay

That monday I ended up going for round 2 seeing if it was any different. To my surprise it was the same intensity if not more than the night before. There was something a little different though. There was a gooey clear light orange/yellow substance coming out from where the frenulum is located. Its the only place that still has still stitches. I can't wait for those to fall out or dissolve seeing as how the frenulum is still a bit swollen and bulbous looking. I will admit I'm not used to handling it with the tighter skin. I've been gentle and careful as too not do any damage. At times I get slight pain around my shaft though not around the incision area or anything, just the shaft.

Oh and today was the first day I managed to walk around a good bit without the gauze wrapped around it. It was at work and I was taking the trash out, I felt my member get sensitive and noticed the gauze falling off. I took it off completely and walked around a good bit. It wasn't painful and it wasn't as uncomfortable as before, I still put the gauze back on later seeing as how I was still at work and had a moderate workload.

This coming Thursday will be the 2week mark. Lately its been a little harder to have the gauze stay on it without slipping off while moving around, yet its no biggie since I feel the worst has passed.

Spiffy, when did you first get it wet after surgery? I was told by the surgeon to keep it dry so haven't washed it or anything though do go regularly and wipe up any discharge and the like. I'm finding the worst part is the sensitivity of the head, the place where the stitches aren't sore at all!
