Hey Alistair, remember the Kit Car Craze of the 1980's?

When you can't afford a real Supercar, just buy the kit conversion and turn any Pontiac Fiero into the Supercar of your dreams!

How about a Fiero based Lamborghini Miura?

Or you could go the other direction and have a Fiero based Classic Duesenberg or a completely made up New Car - the Zimmer QuickSilver Coupe.

Nice.

I particularly enjoyed the short conversation about suicide doors. I don't know how many times I've had to explain that term.

There are a couple of other cars in this thread that have suicide rear doors. One is a '57 El Dorado. I never knew Cadillac made a 4 door El Dorado or that Cadillac ever used/offered suicide doors.

Here's something I've shared on different car forums, I knew nothing about the 1957 Eldorado Brougham until I saw a photo in an issue of Time Magazine in 1967.

Lincoln became famous for its suicide doors on the 1961 to 1969 Lincoln Continental Sedan, but have you ever seen the "Double Entry" Lincoln?

This is the 1932 Lincoln Model KB Double-Entry Sport Sedan by Coachbuilder Brunn & Co.
The Double-Entry Lincoln Sport Sedan used a single door with two handles, one in the front for easy entry of the driver and one in the back for passengers.

Built for the Los Angeles Auto Show (very popular with the show crowds, see above photo) this special car was quickly brought right off the auto show floor by speed boat racer Adolph Spreckles.
The same quick off-the-floor sale also happened to the Lincoln Sport Sedan at the New York Auto Show!

OMGs /\

I've been remembering how everyone would avoid parking next to one of those big old two-door land-yachts because those huge doors would/could swing way out and do considerable damage to the vehicle next to them.

Just imagine how far out that double-entry door would go. Clear everyone on the sidewalk out of your way, for sure. LOL

Ha, I noticed that too! A huge sedan needs clearance on both sides if anyone has plans to sit inside.
All the grand luxury cars of the 1930's were tremendous in size and required plenty of space in motion, as well as parked.

Lincoln K Series cars of the 1930's were custom built cars, horribly expensive, and in many cases body types had a production number of one!
Lincolns were exclusive automobiles and were fitted with custom coachwork from design houses like Brunn & Co. of Buffalo, New York, and LeBaron Inc. of New York City.
My personal favorite, Willouhby Co. of Utica, New York, famous for building Town Cars and Limousines - renown for the most comfortable seats in the automotive business.

Like all Model K Lincolns, the Judkins Touring Coupe is a HUGE automobile powered by a V12 engine. Only two doors and each are five feet long!
Here's an example of a sole survivor, the 1938 Lincoln Model K Touring Coupe by the John B. Judkins Company of Merrimac, Massachusetts.

I was just thinking about some of the conversations I've had at car shows over the years, the big line-in-the-sand is the year 1940.

Before 1940, custom crafted automobiles were industry benchmark vehicles. But the future was assembly line, low cost of production cars.
The Packard Twin-Six, the Cadillac V16, and Lincoln V12 cars like this 1937 Model K Convertible Sedan by LeBaron were all gone by 1940.

When Lincoln tried to revive the grand automobile tradition in the 1950's with the Continental Mark II - it didn't work. The car market had changed.
Even in 2025, you can't sell cars that no one can afford to own.

It's the year 1971 and the question is which Plymouth muscle car would you buy?

The Blue GTX is a fully loaded, top trim car. The White Road Runner is a base trim car with a Big Engine, but limited options available.
You could buy two Road Runners for the price of one GTX - and that sticker price is why the 1971 GTX is rare, and collectible!

/\ I'm way too claustrophobic for those type doors. I was tensing up just looking at the video. I need a more instant exit.

I have to do my best not to think about fucking airbags when I climb into a vehicle.

The Koenigsegg Gemera just astounds with its space and engineering.
It's a 4-door supercar sedan with only 2-doors!
