Pre-60s VINTAGE (photos and vids)

Before tattoos, earrings, scarification, aesthetics, selfies, etc, there were men who were just hot.

Isn't this Tim Hamilton of Bel Ami? Not pre 60 at all.

Bob (not the guy in the photo) lived across the street from me. We were both juniors in high school. He was about 5'9" and muscular (not like the aesthetics of today, solid bigger than your average guy type muscles - the kind you can't miss).

He would do stuff in his front yard wearing only short-shorts. Things like walking on his hands - exposing his bigger than average thighs or doing pull-ups from a tree branch showing how powerful his big arms were.

I don't know if he saw me peeking through the closed curtains from my bedroom straining to watch his every move.

I should have been over there with him like the instagram generation of today taking pictures of his magnificence. Instead this guy will have to do. He ain't all that bad in his own right. Maybe he had somebody watching him. We know he had at least one secret admirer, the guy who took the photo.

What interests me here is the surprising announce of a Gay Convention as early as 1965. I would have thought these kinds of events started happening a solid decade later. Wonder what sort of gathering it was. Do you guys have any info about that? We certainly weren't that advanced in Europe back then.

Also surprised that apparently the word "gay" was already in full use at that time. Or is it one of the first instances? Does anyone of you know when it became commonly admitted to call us that (meaning when the word spread to the non gay general public)? Did it come from UK or US?

Thanks for your answers and for a great thread!
