Pres.Bush Commutes Libby Prison Sentence

Keith Olbermann's "I didn't vote for him but he's my president" commentary from July 3, 2007.

:=D: :=D: :=D: :=D: :=D:

I watched it

what a blowhard

Sorry - someone who is so transparently partisan can't pull this shit off

His loathing of the President is obvious 5 days a week

So his "scathing diatribe" is just another partisan voice

his seriousness is such a joke - his whole show is predicated on wild and wacky Keith O - wants to have it every which way

Bottom line is the Pres was within his boundaries

And this issue is a red herring

And when u complain about stuff like this, u reduce the importance of the things that really do matter

Put in on the list

Cause putting things on the list is what the 80 is all about

See?

People like this won't be happy until they have no rights at all. They won't be happy until we have a King and not elected representatives.

Scary.

( by the way.. my 1984 refrence earlier wasn't too far off.. you notice the Orwellian Newspeak like "u" starting to creep in?)

What gets me is the hypocrisy and intellectual dishonesty that the "conservatives" exhibit toward this and everything else the Republics do.

There seems to be nothing that Chimpy could do that would cause these people to admit what the rest of us know.

Chimpy could be caught fucking a goat on the South Lawn, and the Republics would scream "It's Clinton's fault!!!!!! He left the goat there!!!!"

The thing about the Libby case is that it was obviously done in order to protect Chimpy and Cheney. The Cons can say whatever they want, but that is the case. The mental gymnastics they use to defend the act, though imaginative, are useless. However, to them, any abuse of power, misdeed or dirty trick is OKAY IF ITS A REPUBLICAN.

And when u complain about stuff like this, u reduce the importance of the things that really do matter

not that I think you have any ideas that aren't spoon fed to you by the Bushies via Fox News, but what may I ask ARE the things of importance that DO matter if silly ideas like "Justice for all" and accountability of elected officials isn't on the list?

Not sure how Bush using his privelege to commute an unjust sentence infringes upon my rights

And I don't get the King thing - like to visit London though

"u" is short for "you" - lotsa people use it

1984 is a really good book - and there is no relation between 2007 real life and that book

I'd bet good money that I read more newspapers and watch a greater balance of TV news than yourself - just a hunch

I watch MSNBC and CNN and other news outlets that are predominantly liberal and watch Fox News which is predominantly non liberal

I consider that a good thing

The things of importance to me are in no particular order:

1 - the war in Iraq and it's execution
2 - National security
3 - the economy - gas prices suck
4 - education system

plus

GWB commuting the sentence (not a pardon like the 140 Bill Clinton did in his final hours - THANKS TO ALFIE FOR SHOWING THAT ARTICLE) of a guy who got railroaded doesn't concern me the least

size and scope matters to me

One issue I haven't seen discussed here is if any agents have paid a price for the outing.
When this whole issue first surfaced it was explained that Valerie Plame worked for a "shadow" company" for intelligence agents. There was concern not only for other agents still there but their confidential informants.
Since Ms Plame can't open those doors, and the Executive Branch won't reveal if there have been any reprisals (to protect their cronies), how do any of us know the full scope off the outing?
If anyone was killed or injured, or national security further compromised because of the outing, the whole issue needs further investigation and penalties for the offenders.

size and scope matters to me

I knew you were a size queen.

The commutation means squat. The dems who attempt to make Clinton's criminals different than George's criminals are simply making a better case for Barack. Yes she will be accountable for all of his transgressions just as she is attempting to take credit for his successes.

As for Barack, well he doesn't embody the direction of politics as I would frame the perfect candidate. But his name does seem to be a morph of BARebACK and he honestly admitted he smoked (cigarettes) so I may have to give him more than a once over.

All I really want is for those republicans who believe Libby should get off because there was no underlying crime, the prosecutor was overzealous and all the good work he has done in the service of his country to admit that all those things were true of Clinton (in spades in the instance of the overzealous prosecutor) and that the constant investagations of the Clintons and his impeachment was all a mistake and bad for the country.

I'd like for the investagation culture to end here but I'm thinking thats too much to ask for.

I would like the partisan attack investigation culture to end. I wouldnt be so blind to say i dont want most bureaucrats living under the constant threat of legal action. Something has to make em honest.

I agree the criminalization of politics is ignorant when directed left or right. It is almost as ignorant as Americas infatuation with OJ and Paris when there are so much more important issues at hand.

Oh don't be bitter that you got called out on your hypocrisy. Not only in the post I brought up but also in what you just posted. You are amazed I'd bring up 9 months ago and you wanna bring up 7 years ago

Bring up all the pardons from previous presidents that you want. When Bush is in his last month there won't be enough paper and ink in DC to keep up with the pardons he's gonna have to give out to this corrupt administration and it's friends.

bitter? nah

make u a bet Mattie

betcha GWB doesn't break Bill Clinton's guinness book of pardon records

ok?

From Tom DeLay's mouth to yours!

That's amazing! Do that again! :D

Bush is going to need more than 140 promises of pardons to members of his administration that will be called before Congress to testify. All they need is one or two of them to crack and his house of cards will collapse. Face it Chance, your American version of King George is about to be exposed for his criminal conduct.

Good riddance, I say, good riddance! Let me hear a amen!

Praze Jeezus! (!)

Speak the truth and SHAME THE DEVIL! ..|

I highly doubt you're right. I read an awful lot, although I only pay attention to legitimate news agencies so Fox "News" isn't on the agenda.

By the way, your description of the sentence as "unjust" is as laughable as the rest of the crap you recite here.

Exposing a spy in a time of war carries a death sentence. So a couple years at club fed seems pretty just if you ask me.

yes yes.. I know I know.. you're going to try (like all conservatives who are backed into a corner of their own making) to incite the name of Bill Clinton in an attempt to divert attention from your out of control coorupiton.

But I don't think it's gonna work much longer... you need some new tricks.

Wouldya now? No mas, huh, baby? LOL!!! Suggie, baby, after we Democrats endured eight fucking years of your lunatics dredging up bullshit, now you "would like the partisan attack investigation culture to end." Oh, dearest, you have no fucking idea what investigations are, the Senate itself is only now sorting it all out.

Sorry, bud, though I'm not surprised the cowardly right would cave so quickly.

"We shall go on to the end, we shall fight [strike]in France[/strike] you and Chance, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our [strike]Island[/strike] Democracy, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight [strike]on the beaches[/strike] you sonofabeaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender .... "

I noticed everyone had a shitty day at work. Simply judging by the tone. But hey I am in the military, I will work with the limited resources I am provided

Jesus, I should have taken that bet! His current number is 113

Mattie both your link to the previous post and the link to the all knowing Wikipedia states the list is at 76. Is there something I am missing? Because based on your own post Bush stands at 76 plus four commies. Thats 80 in my universe but I am probably missing something.

Alfie I notice you attack me but not Naked on the same statement. Well KUDOS. I still stand by the fact that our political situation is in a state of "he said/she said" where nothing can be accomplished in any direction due to finger pointing. I also have said that I do not trust politicians that do not have the threat of legal resolve in making due diligence a norm, although you chose to ignore that part since it does not meet your needs. I am sorry your reading club didnt include finishing the entire message to get the point but I suggest you do so in the future.

Texas, I had no idea Delay said that but all I can assume is that he is extremely smart for being able to devise such a combination of words to describe the atmosphere of federal politics.

Well Smelt, I guess the only response for a song is another song:

You're Crazy

I been lookin' for a trace
Lookin' for a heart
Lookin' for a lover in a world
that's much too dark
You don't want my love
You want satisfaction
You don't need my love
You gotta find yourself another
Piece of the action, yeah

Said where you goin'
What you gonna do
I been lookin' everywhere
I been lookin' for you

You don't want my love
You want satisfaction
You don't need my love
You gotta find yourself another
Piece of the action
'Cause you're crazy
You're fuckin' crazy
Ya know you're crazy
I said you're crazy

Say boy where ya comin' from
Where'd ya get that point of view
When I was younger
Said I knew someone like you
And they said

You don't want my love
You want satisfaction
You don't need my love
You gotta find yourself another
Piece of the action
'Cause you're crazy
You're fuckin' crazy
Ya know you're crazy
I said you're crazy
Ooh you're crazy
You know you're crazy
Well you're crazy
You know you're crazy

You know you are
Bring it down
You're fuckin' crazy

I had no idea everybody was needin a hormone patch today but feel free to take pot shots.
Last I checked I still have two testicles and can defend my point of view.

AHEM!

Sorry buddy but that has been created by you and you're going to have to soak in it for a while.

When you guys hired Ken Starr with the mandate to "GET CLINTON AT ALL COSTS" you opened up Pandora's box, and we've had to deal with YEARS of bullshit from you and yours.

This means that when the public has finally had enough and comes calling, you're not going to be able to start to whine about how "partisan politics hurts Ameriukuh" or that we need to "support the commander in chief."

Doesn't work like that, sorry.

Once you've had enough... and it seems you have... you can maybe try to get your party to nominate a candidate who will actually try to get some work done. Maybe you can be the party to turn this mess around. but when you shit in your own pants, I'm afraid you have to walk home in them.

I guess history is selective when you have your finger out pointing but since you didnt even bother to look it was actually DIMwitts who started the practice of super secret special counsel and then they paid for ignorant laws.

History
In 1978, a Democratic Congress determined to curb the powers of the President and other senior executive branch officials due in part to the Watergate scandal and related events such as the Saturday Night Massacre. They drafted the Ethics in Government Act, creating a special prosecutor (later changed to Independent Counsel) position, which could be used by Congress or the Attorney General to investigate individuals holding or formerly holding certain high positions in the federal government and in national Presidential election campaign organizations.

The prosecutor, who was appointed by a special panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, could investigate allegations of any misconduct, with an unlimited budget and no deadline, and could be dismissed by only the Attorney General or a panel of three federal judges. As the president could not dismiss those investigating the executive branch it was felt that the independence of the office would insure impartiality of any reports presented to Congress. However, there have been many critics of this law including Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. Many argued the new Independent Counsel's office was a sort of "fourth branch" of government that had virtually unlimited powers and was answerable to no one. However, the constitutionality of the new office was ultimately upheld in the 1988 Supreme Court case Morrison v. Olson.

United States Office of the Independent Counsel

Come on guys chop chop.....lets try to keep our excuses straight. With libby the republicans are not allowed to point fingers and say "but you guys showed us how it was ok with our Savior Billy Bob Clinton"

and then out of the other side of your collective mouths saying "no fair- You started it with Ken Starr"

If you guys wanna deal in the now then grow up and deal in it but please dont try these "it is fair for my party but not yours" arguments, its childish.
