my aunt … told me tonight she was tired of hearing & seeing [Obama] on tv everyday campaigning. she asked "does he ever work in the WH?" …

what do you think? at what point do people tune out mentally?

I think the President is currently engaging in these “campaign-style” events in order to force the news media to cover him rather than last-minute sausage making associated with health care reform. It is perhaps a somewhat clever diversion. He would rather citizens hear some upbeat rah-rah, instead of reports about what this or that congressperson did/said each day.

He is out doing what he should have been doing 10 months ago - drumming up support for his policies. Obama is also trying to move to the middle where any President must be. I thought Rahm Emanuel summed up the left wing base rather well even if he got in trouble for it.

He never stopped campaigning, and you're encouraging it? People can't be won over to his policies using the same campaign shtick that saps bought into during the election cycle.

He's America's Hugo Chavez.

He doesn't realize the more people see him, the more people don't like him. He thinks everyone is still in love with him.

He's getting overexposed for sure. There's a pretty good correlation over on Rasmussen. The more he talks about health care, the lower his numbers go. He actually does better when he's nowhere to be found. It's a very good indicator of being overexposed.

Oh MAN, I loved seeing him on Health Care today. THAT's the man I voted for and I'll vote for again.

The fire is back.

...Until healthcare passes and his polls and the democrat's prospects go in the toilet.

Americans are sick of the non-stop campaigning. If he can't get people to support healthcare based on its merits, then he should take the hint and stop trying or retool.

Oh please. YOU don't even believe that.

Who the fuck are you to say what I do or do not believe? Obama is over-exposed, and he doesn't understand that people genuinely do not want the shit bill he's shoving down their throats. If he has to resort to THIS to get it passed, he should step back and reconsider what he's trying to accomplish.

Because you're just parroting out wishful thinking talking points.

Well except his supporters can't get enough of him and actually.. yeah.. they do.

If he has to resort to THIS to get it passed, he should step back and reconsider what he's trying to accomplish.

Um... fixing the country and doing what we voted for him to do?

We didn't vote for his healthcare bill. As a matter of fact, the bill he wants passed is completely different than the bill he proposed as a candidate.

You're just a partisan shill that is so enamored with this fool that you can't see that no, Americans do not want the garbage bill he's pushing. Shall I post the polls that have been posted in at least a half dozen other threads that show that Americans don't want the garbage he's pushing?

It's kinda cute that Droid is calling me a "partisan shill."

Well you are. The difference is that I freely admit that I advocate for the conservative side. (and will routinely criticize republicans alongside that)

I've been very critical of the President for not making things happen. No, this isn't the bill I wanted but honestly, it's going to have to do... it's a fuck of a lot better than what we've got now.

i've been very hard on LGBT rights not moving fast enough. I even sent his campaign a very nasty letter removing myself from his mailing list saying "maybe you can ask Rick Warren to write you a check."

But that said... when compared to anything you've offered... I'll take my chances with the president, thanks.

Overexposure? It's nice to have a President who is visually showing how hard he is working to the American people. He's trying to change people's lives for the better.

Would you rather have a President who goes on vacation all the time and hides in seclusion making shady decisions? We just lived through one.

ObamaNation.

Yes We Can!

Fired Up! Ready to Go!

Still getting all gooey-eyed over a man's performance rather than critically considering the substance of what he's selling.

His health care reform legislation is worse than doing nothing because it doesn't contain, much less lower, costs and it forces everyone to buy private insurance and drugs at the prices Big Insurance and Pharma want. There will be no chance after this bill is law to get cost containment legislation passed because the single power we had, the one negotiating tool we could use to placate the insurance and pharma lobby, mandated coverage, will already be law. Obama is giving big insurance and Pharma what they wanted without getting us what we needed. This bill is nothing more than admitting defeat to big insurance and pharma. Insurance companies have to sell insurance to pre-existing conditions but without meaningful cost containment full coverage can be priced beyond the reach of most.

The fire's back all right. And it's going to burn the middle class.

Yup. It's nice to have a president who's actually working and not just jumping from a photo op on a boat to a photo op clearing brush.

I think hell will freeze over when his action figure by Matell gets made. I am hoping Jerry Springer runs for president personally...

Hmm... interesting notion. He's a lot more connected with real people that Obama is, for sure.

Cute. Did you ask for a reply? :gogirl:

As to the thread, since people have been offering personal observations: the folks at the retirement community where my mom is don't want to see or hear Obama any more at all, and they hate the bill because they can't understand why a real president who's really for the people would require millions of people to become customers of companies which regularly deny care -- and believe me, they have lots of experience with being denied care!

I'm sure they don't have a problem with people in my generation
being forced to pay for Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare.
Yet seniors and other hypocrites don't want the rest of society to get what they're already enjoying for free!

What "free"? They've been paying for it all their lives.

And they do have a problem with the fact that younger folks have to work harder and longer to get the same stuff, and also to support the program right now -- and they rightfully blame that on D.C., too.

Personally, I'll be glad when the older generation goes to their damn
graves! They stand in the way of progress on all fronts. Fortunately for America,
they are the Past and my generation is the FUTURE!

If your attitude represents the future, I hope America collapses and drops back to barbarism so you and those like you can learn some things about life and being civilized. At the moment you sound like a spoiled brat who doesn't even want to have to support the people who got you where you are.

Social Security and Medicare are not free. Seniors receiving those benefits today paid into them for their older generation when they worked just like your generation does. But they accepted it as their responsibility as members of this society and didn't bitch about it.

They are responsible for, among many other accomplishments, the social revolution of civil rights.

What's your generation done? So far you've voted for the guy who's screwing up health care reform after falling far short with economic recovery -- and multiplying trillions to the debt your generation will be paying the rest of your lives.
