president obama fatigue

But they accepted it as their responsibility as members of this society and didn't bitch about it.

As opposed to the current generation that bitches about EVERYTHING. I get so sick of hearing Republicans blather on about "I know how to spend my money better than the Government." I always want to ask them "so why aren't you out there fixing the roads and maintaining the pipes and clearing dead animals out of the street?"

Because in most places if you did that you'd either get ticketed or get arrested.

Quite so.

Although when I was in Miami, I would often see Cubans out there doing those things -- picking up litter, patching a crack in the street, repairing a curb, trimming the bushes in a park, scrubbing graffiti off traffic poles or signs. They got away with it because the police darned well knew that the moment they'd hauled one person away, someone else would be out to finish the job.

Heck, I remember an elderly gentleman out on a Sunday morning repainting a crosswalk!

In comparison, you could tell where the Democrats lived, because they waited for the government to take care of them, and it was always trashy.

He's America's Hugo Chavez.

He doesn't realize the more people see him, the more people don't like him. He thinks everyone is still in love with him.

This sums it up.

His days of glory, the whole "hope and change" thing are behind him.

People just want jobs, job security, and trust in the future.

He's failing fast....

Some of them do clear dead animals off the street, and private citizens don't spend their money fixing roads and maintaining the pipes because the taxes they pay are supposed to take care of that. But that doesn't mean that a lot of money we send to our government isn't wasted or spent in ways that benefits lawmakers and those who finance their campaigns but not us.

And it's a shame Democrats have squandered our opportunity while in power, which will be brief, focusing so much energy attacking Republicans who are out of power rather than forcing the Democrats we elected to pass strong solid legislation.

We could have accomplished so much but too many Democrats got all swoony over an Elmer Gantry. And too many still are.

again...

if the HCR vote is really on sunday then this is a bullshit cover story

I disagree, though I'm not up on what's happening in Indonesia so my opinion about this is Washington-centric. FWIW

There's no guarantee the vote will be on Sunday. They're planning a vote but Pelosi doesn't have the votes yet. No doubt Obama is still personally threatening or otherwise manipulating House members and will continue until he gets the magic number. But there's no guarantee that'll happen by Sunday, and they can't keep putting off the Asia trip a few days so putting it off to June makes sense. I have a feeling there's nothing Obama would rather do right now than get out of the country for a little while and breathe without having to inhale the stench of HCR.

What's amazing to me is clearly ObamaCo has decided that passing HCR is essential to the viability of his presidency, and yet they're still having such a hard time squeezing enough Dem votes out of our huge House majority. They really have made a monumental mess of this. When you consider how popular HCR was a year ago and how powerful the Dem majority was, that it's deterioriated to this degree under Obama's leadership is ... well he's even worse than I expected.

The Republicans, right-wingers and one remaining Hillary dead-ender (HDE) in this country are fuming mad about HCR because, as imperfect as it is, there are still a lot of important reforms in it that the American people will like. These right-wingers and the HDE cannot stand the thought of Obama achieving anything. They would rather see Obama fail, and the country accelerate even faster to second rate status.

"The Republicans are the people who believe that government doesn't work, then get elected and prove it." P. J. O'Rourke. The Republicans (and Conservatives) have no governing philosophy, at least not one that is relevant to the 21st Century. They did nothing about the health care disaster that has unfolded in this country. They oversaw the near collapse of the financial system. Lied us into an unnecessary war, botched the war in Afghanistan, let Bin Laden escape, etc. The list of their failures is just too long. All they have left is a strategy to make the country ungovernable and a failure. It's amazing anyone pays any attention to them, much less votes for them.

* disclaimer: this is not a RRB poll *

too early to say what the HCR results will do for president obama but

Passing it, signing it, will bump up his numbers. Has to - it's a win and even if they don't think much of the bill human beings generally cheer a win.

Ok, but is this like that other poll where you claimed 55% of people were against the health care bill but you forgot to mention that that included the 14% of people who didn't think it was "liberal enough" and wanted it to go further?

Because I'm also in that "disapprove" group because I don't think he's gone far enough with the health care bill and I want DADT and DOMA repealed now (when I think they're being put on the shelf yet again). I think he's been too nice and wasted time trying to play nice with Republicans whose only wish is to fight him every inch of the way and cause blockage.

Doesn't mean I'm not going to vote for him again or donate to his campaign again.
