Prince Harry not going to Iraq because apparently war is dangerous

Good grief, Joe, shite like that makes me embarrassed to be English.

Not that I'm trying to interrupt the bitter diatribes or nothin', but I have a question that relates to the original topic....offtopic:

IIRC, wasn't there a similar question/quandary about Prince Andrew (Harry's uncle) serving in the Falklands War in 1982? He was SECOND in line to the throne at that time since William had not yet been born, not to mention he was the Queen's own son.

Prince Andrew also declared that he wanted to fight along side those he'd trained with - and he did.

When I looked this up I got:
At first the British government were apprehensive of allowing Prince Andrew to remain on Invincible, and wished to move him to a desk job. The prospect of the son of the Queen being killed in action was a possibility, and the government wished to avoid such a circumstance. However, the Queen insisted that Prince Andrew be allowed to remain with his ship, and so he joined the Invincible as it sailed south, as a Sea King helicopter co-pilot.

Throughout the conflict Prince Andrew flew on various missions, including Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) and Anti-Surface Warfare search (ASuW), as well as other missions. He also helped in casualty evacuation, transport and Search and Air Rescue (SAR). When the conflict ended, and Invincible returned to Portsmouth, the Queen and Prince Philip joined other families of the crew to welcome the vessel home.

Wasn't HMS Invincible just as much of a target for the Argentine Navy and Air Force? Or the helicopters Andrew was piloting? And I remember watching news coverage (that interrupted my Saturday morning cartoons:mad: ) where the media showed right where he was, too. It's seems like it would be easier to find a warship off the coast of two small islands than a unit among hundreds of thousands of soldiers somewhere in Iraq.

It's hard for me to see why the situation with Harry is so different as to warrant a different policy.

For the record, this is my opinion. Please don't lambast me if I got something wrong. I promise I mean no ill or disrespect to our friends in the UK. And I'm trying my darndest not to be stupid, thick, or ignorant, or, #@%$!!, [insert expletive].

The whole Royal Family are PARASITES...

Talk about history..How much blood is on their hands?

Where do you get off talking to people like this?

Your so smart ..Yet you can't explain the crowns shameful past without resorting to insults?

Fine ..as you like it.

FUCK YOU AND THE CROWN.

Please! Our current US president has a hell of a lot of blood on his hands (whether he meant to or not) but I'm not suggesting we murder him. Let's face reality. To kill a member of the royal family (brit, saudi, et cetera) is a symbolic victory. And any poor bloke near him would be killed too. Would you like to explain that death to their family? Get a grip! And use the brains God gave you before you ignore life's reality! ..| #-o

Oh by th way, Her Majesty the Queen holds no power in Canada. We are still under the British law system and other institutions but not the British rule. There is an exception of course and that is the province of Quebec who follow the Napoleonic code in many things. Some in Quebec also follow fools who want to separate from the rest of the country. Class dismissed.

so lets get rid of the governor general and all the Lieutenant Governors

lets turn Rideau Hall into a museum

and lets stop paying over 50,000,000 a dollars a year to maintain this farce

Dear Soccerfck...

You really are dumb arent you? Wow! i've never met a genuinely dumb person before... can i have your finger print? I'd ask for your signature or autograph but i doubt that you know what those big words mean. *rolls eyes*

Let me just post a few select parts of the website which i presume you missed out because you couldnt grasp the language used.

You understand that?

Yep... thats right.. You ever heard of the CPS being mentioned on the news... it stands for Crown Prosecution Service. Every criminal offense commited goes to court and is tried as XXXX Vs The Crown. The CPS represents the Queen in court. In order to understand this, you need to think back to a time LONG before the USA even existed.. long before Christopher Columbus even set sail for the "new world"... in fact, long before he was even born. You need to go back to the year 560. Yes... the world DID exist before the USA came along.

Amazing huh!? ..|

Isnt that amazing!! Can you imagine all that little SoCal boy... all this happening before your country even existed!!!

That's just a few select area's of the Monarch's duties... so child, next time you sit in your cot wondering what the Queen does.... you're a little bit wiser.

But remember, in order to FULLY understand her importance.. you need to go back over 1500 years. ONE THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED YEARS... how old is YOUR country again?? What was that... 300?????????

And before you say what has she done recently for you... she gave the command to do this:

Apologies to everyone else for the patronising tone of this posting.... something just need to be spelt out.

To joeslifeyork

I've just gotten back to reading the thread about Prince Harry and found your post with the video where Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth had the Star Spangled Banner played at Buckingham Palace on 12th of September 2001. Honestly it had me crying.

Even though I am an American, my stepdad who came here in 1967 from Nottingham has taught me quite a bit about your wonderful country and he knows that I have nothing but respect for your Queen and the Monarchy.

I thank you for the post, and I am in agreement with you in that I know why he is not going to serve there, but cannot say I agree either, as I believe he wanted to do so. The line of succession must be preserved.

I read one of the previous posts to say that the United States is 300 years old? UM lets see 1776-2007 =231 years - we won't be 300 until 2076 long after we are all dead.
