I love private messaging. very useful when you want to get to know someone.
i always respond, and usually never want to stop, but sometime the exchange of messages just end...they just stop responding. i don't mind, but a couple i have messaged back later and we talked again.

i talk for a while before sending any pics or giving them my email address.

Yes, I consider it extremely rude not to respond to PMs. if someone has taken the time and effort to send you something, the very leats you can do is acknowledge it.

of all the responses here, this is the most perplexing (to me!)
I don't get why peeps would wanna come to a forum like this, write opinions, respond to issues people have, etc., and then NOT feel there is a need to actually communicate with someone directly. Why is that? is it because it make it personal? and some people don't want to actually "know" anything about anyone.
It's like a guy I know - I left him a voice message ---yes--on his phone-- and he claims he doesn't get them - if they're voice mail - - he really doesn't want to TALK to me - only leave TEXT messages - and he knows I don't text. (anybody, ever) .

Is it tha PM's link two people too closely? to close to what? I've talked to people for over a year who won't even tell me their first name !!

any way - - YES - I ALWAYS ALWAYS respond to PM'S -- especially when it's to aplogize for some misconstrued comment.. I write them to show appreciation, ageement for points of view, dissention as well - and i relish every reply.

Yea I agree that it's absurb for someone to not even have the decency to respond to a PM you took time out to send. I mean, even if it's a one-word response they could still be courteous enough to reply.

But like some above posts stated, some people are afraid of personalization and direct civil interaction. This one guy on here (he knows who he is--he'll probably follow me here and say something negative) harrasses me constantly in the forums....every single thing I say, he has something negative to say in public...I don't know what I did to him to make him so evil.

But as soon as I tried to come to him like a man/adult, and figure out what the issue was so we could amicably solve it, he chose to ignore me----yet continue to post negative things in the forums. What is up with that? Are people so drama-driven these days? Or is it psychological: do people avoid direct communication with you because they know they have done something wrong and they don't wanna face the truth?

Are people so bitter, crass, stuck-up, or busy that they won't even reply to a simple PM, ever!??!?!

Hell ... my posts rarely get acknowledged .... why would i expect to receive a PM .... when i do, i usually reply ... unless it's just a comment and not an entry to conversation

i get occasional comments and sometimes i reply to them ... but mostly comments are just a "nod" from someone about something said ...

i suspect that the "popular" people here are swamped with PMs and can spend lots of their time replying if they made a point to acknowledge each one ....

i don't have that problem
