It's true, you also have to look at big production companies like Disney and Fox who perpetuate racial intolerance with their casting practices, but like to balk that they are "diverse".

This thread has failed to discuss that racism is also promoted by those pretending or intending to fight it. For one thing, young blacks going to college are likely to take Black Studies course. There, they learn in great detail the history of black oppression. But they are also taught to be hypersensitive; to see racism in situations and comments where none is intended. The latest extension of this is the concept of "microagression" in which unintended slights are labeled as racism and aggression. Students are taught to be hypersensitive and "prickly"; eager to take offense and to see racism where none intended. It may make the students less able to fit into many jobs and promotions.
It is not limited to colleges; schools in general place great emphasis non political correctness, teaching students to resent if not hate whites.
Liberals like to feel morally superior by finding racism as much as possible. The democrats have used accusations of racism as a political tool, attracting minority votes by accusing the opposition of racism. Black leaders us it as an ideology for power.
The fact is that while racism may exist, it is dramatically reduced in the US, is more often seen in anti white policies than in policies injurious to minorities. What racism exists against minorities is not operative. It doe not reduce employment and opportunities.
This thread, and the title to it by exaggerate the problem and fail to see that racism is being actively promoted by many. Racism cannot go away if its existence is actively taught, exaggerated, and used for power and profit.

Statistically, increased incarceration, poverty and unemployment rates, and lower wages, college enrollments and life expectancies for some minorities would suggest that something is operative...

Yes, but not necessarily racism. Increased crime results in increased incarceration. Poverty, unemployment and lower wages result from poor work ethic and immigration. All or virtually all colleges have affirmative action in scholarships and enrollments for minorities. They often go unused. Lower life expectancies are often a function of poor parenting. Hiring girls to have illegitimate babies does not make them the best mothers. Black murder of blacks is a big factor in reduced life expectancies.

Yes exactly, and I've noticed that race relations are getting a lot more tense because of attitudes like this, when years ago it seemed like we were making such good progress.
 
Draven, what examples of intolerance are you thinking of? Disney isn't exactly a white Mecca when you go to their movies, theme parks, or look at their employee rosters.

How do they promote intolerance?

I can go to a black BBQ joint in Memphis and may or may not be welcome, as they have cultural thing going on. Even I wouldn't interpret that as intolerance of my race, only that they were gathered as their own for their own cultural thing. It wouldn't occur to me that because they went to an ostensibly blacks only business that the business was somehow indoctrinating them to be intolerant of whites.

You seriously can't tell me that a multi-million dollar corporation doing little to include or appeal to Black viewers is a "cultural thing", because a Black BBQ joint in a predominately-Black part of town feeling suspicious of you is different from a multi-million dollar conglomerate that has established itself in almost every part of the world with theme parks, movies, and merchandise that can make a good even 'Oscar-worthy' Black film but chooses not to do so on the basis of Money (not wanting to expend chump change to make a positive difference). Plain and simple, just don't try and act like you understand all the while defending the big companies with the money as being a "cultural thing" because Mickey Mouse & Disney are far from being a local mom & pop business.
