Most people tend to be shy about putting their own photos 'out there'. I think you'll find that a majority of the 'people' avatars aren't the people displaying them.
Mine's me, and always will be me - unless I temporarily change it to something which is either a non-person photo or drawing, or a photo of somebody who's extremely famous. I think that the only example of the latter was the couple of months last year when I used a picture of President-elect Barack Obama.
My first avatar, way back when into early 2006, was a drawing of Stan from South Park. At one point I even used an optical illusion as my avatar.
Why are they called 'antennae' when you've got only 2 of them? Shouldn't they be called 'antwonea'?
Funny thing about that.
If they're the feelers on an insect, I call them ANTENNAE.
If they're the metal aerials that receive radio and TV stations, I call them ANTENNAS.
Similarly, those little mammals which scurry around the house, I call MICE. But if somebody has two or more computers, I call those roll-and-click things MOUSES.
Oh my lol I see I am not the only one with double posting problems lol
GSDX we seem to be caught in some kind of posting vortex LMAO!!!
OK I am not crazy my post was originally posted 3 times as well as GSDX"s. OK I am a little crazy but our post's were in triplicate
A mod must have removed the multiple posts before I finally got here, but I've noticed that sometimes the
daily email notifications (which I get for every thread I've ever posted in) will say that somebody made the same duplicate post three to five times. Is that a bizarre mistake in the daily email software, or are there actually duplicate posts made, which are quickly removed before I've ever seen them on the board?
Interestingly, occasionally the emails say that KyAnimal made several duplicate posts on something - not very often, and certainly not all of his posts - I'm still trying to figure that out...
I...replaced it with other things after someone messaging me saying I was too fat and not good looking as the other members.
Damn, that sucks, and it's not fair at all. I think I may have seen a partial-body photo of you way back when, but I don't remember - on the other hand I recall a couple of your facial shots and I saw a friendly and comforting face in them.
Nearly all male body pictures - and, yes, that includes even those with the great and classic hunk type bodies - "go in one eye and out the other" quickly for me. I've seen so many that they're very fleeting and temporary for me, LOL.

Of course a person should feel free to use his/her own avatar, OR NOT, according to whether they're comfortable with it. I generally prefer avatars of the actual person, but I have to admit that the whimsy and creativity in a lot of the non-portrait avatars can be a lot of fun as well.
