I think it is hard to answer the question whether one is resisting arrest or resisting assault because that depends on the person and the individual at the time.
What I know that doesn't help these situations is the fact that you always see people post articles and talk about how more crime ridden and violent black people are than other races are. You have people and Cops believing this or depending where the area, this notion being fulfilled because of their own perceptions and experiences. Then the other side, you see how black people are treated by Police. Even outside of that you see in general that there are plenty of people who have a problem with how a lot of Police handle things because of youtube videos, media reports or whatever. Because they do handle things badly at times, they are human just like anyone and make mistakes, or make bad decisions, or are bullies with power and on top of that are racist.
Then with all these individuals in the real world people react based on these perceptions, information and experiences. So you have this whirlwind of ingredients that play a part in why a lot of this stuff happens. You have racist Police Officers who abuse power, you have scared black people because of what they see and experience. Regardless whether or not these individuals are actually guilty of anything. Even if they are the way we have seen some of these incidents play out shouldn't call for excessive force or death.
Lately I have been seeing a lot of people claiming the media is spinning things to keep us divided. There is nothing keeping us divided by realizing there is still a huge race problem people want to conveniently ignore or play down. That is the exact reason why these discussions get so heated, why we have Black Lives Matter and why we even have the more irrational members of the group who will resort to more extreme means because at the end of the day they think that their voice isn't actually being heard. And not that I condone the more extreme actions, but when people still see the same things happening and absolutely nothing is changing, what do you exactly expect people to do? To keep sitting down and taking it? Absolutely not. Things escalate instead and they will keep escalating when things don't change.
I am neither a Cop or a black person, so I am not trying to speak for either of these groups. I also apologize for trying to explain things in a more simple manner where it is way more complex than how I have said it. This is just how I am seeing a lot of things play out and there seems to be too many people putting their fingers in their ears and closing their eyes claiming that people are just complaining too much and things aren't so bad just because they don't experience or see what other people do.

) friend that nothing undercuts the well-documented systemic targeting of black men by the justice system. That blacks kill each other in greater numbers doesn't mean that trigger-happy police aren't out there gunning us down in cold blood, adding insult to injury our tax dollars are paying these men to hunt us down.
