I can't speak about the 'hating oneself' thing because I've never encountered it, but I can comment on the other. One race being attracted to another is nothing more than preference. It has nothing whatsoever to do with racism.

Is it racism to be a 'size queen'? To be attracted to twinks or to hunks or to bears or to guys who shave their heads or to blonds or to redheads or. . .

No, it's not racism. It is merely 'preference'.

Explain why if a black man prefers or finds a white man attractive; he is self hating, a wanna be, traitor or degrading black men, and has no pride...

I have found many black men (and other non-white men) attractive, but the issue of me being racist because of it has never arisen. So, it seems that it's racism only when it is convenient for it to be so, and that is most interesting.

i'm a black man who's hooked up with white men exclusively but it has nothing to do with "self-loathing" or selling out. i do have a preferance for white boys but i would LOVE the opportunity to meet more brothas i was attracted to. over where i live the only ones i meet are the stereotypical-over-the-top queens, all "Girlfriend....oh no he DIDN'T"..shit like that.

I'd venture to say that in each of our hearts there is something that we find disagreeable about certain types. If that makes us racist, then that's what it is. But, that said, is it racism if it is so hardwired into our preferences that it can't be separated out and contemplated?

For instance: I don't like smokers, white, black, red, yellow, or what ever. I wonder if that's a form of racism? On the other hand, if a guy doesn't smoke, then I don't give a hoot what his color is if he wants to play.

To be sure, there are some racists here and everywhere for that matter, and they ought to be called on their intolerance because it is unhealthy, and uncalled for, putting others down because of color. Like we have no choice being born gay, a man of another color had no choice being born that color.

Now, if you can honestly say I don't like you because I find your personality so offensive, that I don't want to hook up with you, and mean it because it's true, and not because the guy is black, white, red, orange or green, then it isn't racist. But if it simply comes down to not liking a person's skin color being different from yours, then maybe so.

Unless of course, it's because you are ignorant and fearful of things different than you, which a vast majority of the white race is. Especially in the US. But that is the racism of ignorance, not hate.

I come from a racist family, that, once I understood, I disowned, and have never regretted it for a moment. The world is full of wonderful skin colors, and all of them just want to be loved and appreciated.

Just because HATE is an available emotion doesn't mean we have to use it against others because they are different from us.

You seem to be contradicting yourself. How can prefering white men be one thing and exclusively liking them be another. In both cases skin color makes them dislike / like one skin color above the other.

Anyway, I see nothing wrong with prefering one type of man over another based on skin tone, baldness, penis size or whatever. It's a bit shallow, that's all. But wishing to change oneself to match your idea or others of physical beauty goes beyond shallow, and evidently means the person is self hating.

Besides which, the dude must be looking in the wrong place. There's plenty of white men who love black men. You don't have to be white to have sex with a white man. You just have to shop around.

The phrase in bold is the only phrase I would consider to be a racist remark by definition. The other phrases may be underlined with what LaloGS has ventured to say, but as ljhotboy has pointed out, they can also be involved with other things such as an inferiority complex.

Oh wow. Let's call preference rascism. Some people are just out of their minds. If you want to be simple about it, being attracted to one race is a prejudicial preference. You're not keeping an open mind when you find guys from different races attractive. Because that implies you actually force yourself to find certain people attractive. People of different races look distinctively different (for the lack of better words). You're not obliged to be attracted to Asian men for example, just as you're not obliged to be attracted to white women. Most people favor one race. This is evident by our dating habits. Some of us have wider range when it comes to taste than others.

I certainly wouldn't dream of arguing with you. I've expressed my opinion and perspective in precisely the way I wanted to and so I have nothing to argue about. As for others, I don't know. I hope not.

The problem is how often this happens, that's all. I've got sucked into too many arguments with both white and black guys being racist, without either of them realising the self-perpetuating nature of the issue at hand, and that if left alone, it WILL sort itself out.

Racism could so easily be ended, but for - for example - the black guys who insist that the best defence is offence, and start going directly at the white guys - who in turn become jaded and prejudiced, become racist, and fight back. Now, when someone fights you back, you fight back again at him, he does the same, and it becomes a big game of tennis - the ball's alternating whose court it's in, and either side could end this.

However, whether out of pride, prejudice, clouded judgement, or 'righteous indignation' (also known as childishness in this context, since it boils down to a case of "He started it!" Except it's worse, since it's "His ancestors," - or just fellow white people's ancestors, since mine sure as hell didn't own slaves - "started it!")

Ah bugger. I've let myself get sucked in again.
