Anyone here know and adore her sound?

Ok i have fallen inluv with this womans music. And to think i only heard it by chance. About 2 weeks ago a radio DJ palyed her song "Fidelity" and from the first notes i knew this was something special. Right away i listenned to all things Regina that i could get my hands on and have soaked it all in.

She got robbed a best new artist grammy nomination in december (IMO and in the opinion of many music critics) but she is still doing big things. "Greys Anatomy" used her songs and last night on "Brothers & Sisters" when Kitty was having dinner with the seneter they played "Fidelity."

Anyways i am still learning about her but she is so my new favorite artist of 2006/2007.

This is an article talking about the artists that got grammy snubbed this year. Regina got a write up in it.

Here is a youtube of the "Fidelity" video. Incredible stuff.

I love Fidelity, I heard it on MTV in Rome and loved it, I have yet to get the rest of her album though.

I love her too. I found her because a couple of her songs were on the Old Navy CD several months back.

I'm in love with her song, "On the Radio." I'm glad to see that she is gaining popularity... she's a fantastic singer!

Really like "Fidelity" and have been planning to check out the rest of her songs on itunes. Thanks for the reminder!

ZeroPoint84 suggested I to go check her out just a few weeks ago and I'm real glad he did ..|

It's a cryin' shame we don't hear more from talent like hers during the day on radio stations here in the UK... it all seems to be the same tired old stuff on an endless loop. A damn disgrace when there's really talented singer/songwriters out there :(

Here's hoping she gets talked about more and more and gets the air-play she deserves (!)

Yeh - she's good.

TripleJ radio here had her album as their feature album a few weeks back and have been giving it a good deal of airplay.

I have her album, she is pretty good.

yeah her cd is great. her voice is so unique. she kinda fits in the same boat as fiona apple, poe, and kasey chambers. samson is a great song!

love her! listened to her new cd non stop for the past couple of months!

I love her. I remember I saw her music video for "Us" at Six Flags Astroworld last summer. I could barely hear the song, but I knew it was pretty amazing.

Greys Anatomoy used "Fideilty" in tonights episode. She is in demand. How she didnt get a best new artist nom i dont know.

This is so awesome. Mainstream radio has been playing, "Fidelity" since last week on a regular basis. The Dj loves it. She says its so different and just what radio needs.

Still bummed she wont be getting a grammy this Sunday, but its great that more people are able to hear her music.

sHE SHOULDA WON A GRAMMY LAST WEEK FOR fidelity AND THATS THE TRUTH.

iT UCKS WHEN REALLY TALENTED AND DESERVING PEOPLE GET IGNORED BY THE ACADEMY.

FIDELITY WAS ALOT OF AIRPLAY SO I KNOW THE VOTING MEMBERS HEARD IT, ITS SUCH A GEM OF A SONG.

SONG AND RECORD OF THE YEAR IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATED FOR.

If you like Regina Spektor, you might want to look into Chris Garneau. His sound is definitely akin to the style and attitude of Spektor's - haha, very much like a male version of her.

Here's a track I put up for offer on my music blog early last year...

Black & Blue (just right click - save as)

I'll keep that link up for a week or so - if you miss it, sorry...

I personally enjoy her earlier, more musically experimental stuff more. "Daniel Cowman," "Lacrimosa," "Oedipus," "Chemo Limo" are all my personal Regina Spektor favorites since they're story-based. I still really like "Après Moi" though.

Radio TripleJ here (Aussie) have a listener voted "Hottest 100" songs at the end of each year.

The song of hers that had really high airplay was one she recorded here for a segment called "Like a Version" (artists come into the studio and play a cover of someone else's number).

Regina performed Lennon's "Real Love" (yes - I know she has done it in concert at other times as well). Really suits her voice - JJJ listeners thought so too - it came in at #29 (I thought it should have been higher).

This is the YouTube of that recording - magical...

She was on SNL a couple weeks ago.

Someone mentioned Regina and i did a search to see if she had been talked about before on JUB and i found this thread.

"chemo limo" is excellent..
i've always known about her, but just recently started to listen to hear and her stuff is so beautifully deep and varied.

anybody adore the song "laughing with" as much as i do???
i find it so simple, but really powerful.

Chemo Limo and Laughing With are to HELLA good songs! I just love the many directions she takes with her lyrics. My favorite song by her has to be Ode to Divorce, but I'm loving Eet too!
