i am making plans to host another regional jub meet in san antonio, texas in 2009.

05/23 to 05/25/09 to be precise and if you check your calendars you will note that that is the memorial day weekend.

right now i'm still in the planning stages but i anticipate staying downtown. in fact i would like to headquarter at the drury inn plaza downtown and if any of you were here in s.a. the last time around you will recall what a magnificent joint it was. i also anticipate several forays to the bonham exchange which is still the coolest gay bar i've ever been to.

so for now, mark your calendars and start saving your pennies. i'll make updates here as they become apparent. :)
 
Ooh with a year's notice, I can start putting a couple bucks a day into a special "JUB Meet" account!

I'm totally there.
 
so I have to save a couple days vacation time.

I'm up for it. I've been to Dallas twice and Houston once--would be cool to see another Texas jewel and hang with great people while doing it.

Don't know how I'll get out of working that Memorial Day weekend but have a year to come up with something!;)I'll make every effort to be in San Antonio next May!

damn! a reservation already? now that's commitment! ;)

give it some time, i am planning on getting in touch with the drury directly about hotel rooms. the last time we were there they had given us a group discount and we actually had bigger rooms than the ones in STL. and they were cheaper! i can't promise we'll get the same, but it's worth a shot.

right now i am planning on checking with them about 6 months prior to the event. once i've done that i'll post the information. ..|

A great excuse for me to go back to Texas!

There aren't that many times of year that it's easy for me to get away and be somewhere on a weekend; May and October are my best months for that.

That weekend falls just marginally after my typical "spring deadline."

Another 3.5 hour drive through Waco, Temple, Belton, Killeen, Georgetown, Austin, San Marcos, and New Braunfels to get to San Antonio?

Stacy, I think you could get around everywhere, except the dance floor. You do have to go down some stairs for that, but this is a very old building renovated into a glorious bar. It has a very wide central hallway that branches off into different bars with different themes. At the end of the hallway, you look down onto the dance floor and can see everyone "getting their groove on". Hell, if all we have to do is assist you inside, I think the rest would be a breeze.
