regional jub meet san antonio 2009

Okay, so at some point, some of us "foodies" who are totally into "comfort food" are going to have to grab a cab to Tip Top that weekend!

Otherwise, Dan and I will be totally blowing our diets, because I'll have to make multiple trips to SA just to try everything on their menu. <insert slobbering smilie>

I hear rumors of a possible ATL JUBbers road trip to S.A.

We shall see ;)

Looks like more than just simply yummy!

How is their chicken-fried steak? That's one of my favorite foods in Texas...or ANYWHERE!

And foodies might not need a cab to go there - I should be able to drive there with at least 4 or 5 other people...it looks like a place that, if anybody's up for going there, I am likewise.

For those who are into flea markets, there's a great flea market in that general area - one of the best! - assuming it still exists.

i think i am going to come to the meet. it was such fun in 2007 when Lalo and I came from Bogota.
I will have to bring Priscilla with me and stay with people I know there.
So, I hope we will all see each other

and yay! for the road trip.

i'm working on an rough itinerary and will post something soon.

Well here is a rough outline of what I have planned for our JUB meet.

Friday 05/22/09

OK technically speaking the meet doesn’t begin until Saturday but my experience is that some folks start showing up the Friday before so I am planning on hosting a night of bowling. I have a couple of houses in mind and I’ll make a decision on which later on but anyone who knows me knows I love to go bowling. Am I good at it? Not by a long shot! But it’s a great way for everybody to socialize and such. I’m open to dinner before hand or just munching out from the house’s bar/grill. After a couple of games we can certainly make an excursion to The Bonham.

Saturday 05/23/09

I am planning an excursion to The Alamo in the early afternoon for anyone interested in going. The Alamo is a local institution and more importantly it is a shrine in its own right. From there we can certainly visit the sites in and around the downtown area. Maybe even take a ride on the river boats!

Dinner will be at one of the best Tex-Mex joints in all of San Antonio, Mi Tierra. Now I have to be honest with you, with Mi Tierra we’re going to have to wait for tables and I really cannot guarantee we will have one or two tables for the whole group. In fact I anticipate that we will have to be split up at any number of tables. This place is always busy and Saturday nights are their busiest for sure. But you cannot come to SA and not experience Mi Tierra!

Thereafter we can all dance off our suppers at The Bonham Exchange. If you’ve never been then I think you’re in for a treat. I’ve been to a few gay bars but nothing compares to this joint. There are several bars through out the place and its always jumping.

Sunday 05/24/09

I would like to leave Sunday open for everyone to do their own thing and visit the sites they want to see. I am open however to hitting either SeaWorld or Six Flags Fiesta Texas if anyone wants to hit the coasters! Now to be honest we tried to do this the last time but everyone seemed to be pretty tired and worn out so we didn’t do anything but a late lunch and a return trip the club. Which I’m totally cool with so for now I think we’ll see what transpires.

Monday 05/25/09

Is the time we put Bob Hope on and sing “Thanks For The Memories.”

Bear in mind this is still a rough outline as far as I am concerned. We still have 2 and a half months to nail everything down. :)
