If Mr. Lee hadn't been preaching from his moral high horse regarding how we should live, I'm sure nothing would have resulted from "Craigslistgate". What about 2011 and the preponderance of 24-7 cable news and the social network. Perhaps Lee's arrogance made him think that he was immune to what happens on the net.

You cited former presidents who had extra-marital affairs - they were elected over 50 years ago. (You left out Eisenhower who was known for banging his jeep driver.) None of them preached "traditional American family values". They may have been hypocrites, but in other areas.

It isn't about ceding family values.

But as a general rule, (with notable exceptions), Democrats aren't out there telling everyone else how to live their private lives, or (with notable exceptions), trying to legislate what people do in bed.

But, as Edwards proved, the utter distaste that all good people have for cheating and lying about it transcends political parties.

He done himself justice by retiring because the Rep can't continue to use the moral ground when dogging gays that want to get marriage. He violated the sanctity of his marriage by lying about not being married and sending a photo of himself to another woman. The scandal and why I think he tried to get out of the spot light is because the woman he was corresponding with was a Black woman. Also, you don't know what his wife had to say about the situation. She may have said I won't stand there like other women and smile while you say how you have wronged me so he took the quick way out. We may never know.
