Republican "Debate" from New Hampshire

BTW was the church separated from the state

Yes.

"Strongly guarded as is the separation between religion and & Gov't in the Constitution of the United States the danger of encroachment by Ecclesiastical Bodies, may be illustrated by precedents already furnished in their short history (Detached Memoranda, circa 1820)."

-James Madison

yea i didn't see anyone there capable of leading the country out of our current situation. they are all insiders who want to perpetuate the establishment. So is Obama but at least bla bla bla...
were boned.

The GOP ciricus of clowns doing what they best offering no solutions to the issues.

They sound like absolute idiots.

If this kind of shit keeps getting beamed out around the world, the US only looks more and more ridiculous to intelligent people around the civilized world.

It's not my view. There are numerous cases - displaying the Ten Commandments in a court of law, for example. I can name others but my law clerk has the day off. In the meantime, check the U.S. Constitution, First Amendment. Also, Google "divine right of kings." By the way, why are you so defensive? Chill.

P.S. "did our founding fathers not want the State fucking with Church?" Please post an example of this occurrence. What do you mean exactly by, "fucking with the church?"

That you use the first amendment as the source of the separation of church and state shows you don't know the history of the issue. The first amendment guarantees no such thing. Go read up on the history and get back to us.

saw the first hour - while at the gym - was difficult to watch

the format sucked - :30 seconds to answer with no red light/beeper etc. - they all went over and jon king looked like a jerk trying to stop them

questions were weak - the whole thing was boring

my take:

ron paul sounded like ur crazy uncle - the one u talk about while he's there

romney looked good and presidential - pawlenty got cold feet and refused to bit at jon kings repeated (and awkward and stupid) attempts to get him to repeat his attack on romeny's massachusetts health care plan

michelle bachman instead of answering a question at the beginning announced (again awkwardly) her official run for president - other than that i thought she came off good - talked about being in the room for original tarp discussions and fighting her own party on it

herman cain seemed out of it

newt gingrich seemed angry - barked at jon king for making a follow up question that did not relate to the original question

santorum doesn't watch tv late at nite - goes to bed early - zzzzzzzzzzz

pretty boring shit

With apologies to Gertrude Stein: "There's no there there." :help:

For those who have read "The American Political Tradition" by Richard Hofstadter,
this debate was like "The American Political Tradition" on acid.

I think your assessment is about as good as it gets! :=D:

I hate these debates, but I always watch. We could get to more questions if everytime someone in the military spoke we didn't get a :45 diseration about how much the candidate thanks them for their service and sacrifice to the country. I mean, don't get me wrong, all my respect to the troops, but I think a general disclaimer that states every candidate appreciates the effort would allow us to get to more answers. Additionally, every single candidate said marriage is between a man and a woman.

I propose this follow-up:

"In celebration of Church and State, we must recognize that the Church and Government use the same Noun for the definition of marriage. Hypothetically, if Government had utilized a different noun to define their legal union on a federal level, would your support for said same-sex unions differ?" Especially for candidates like Romney who can't wait to say they separate their religion from their governing style, it's an easy way to turn the religious argument against them in a logical way.

lawrence o'donnell last night said that 1% of the country watched - as in ....... no one

liked pawlenty's back off (only one i have heard who has said that) saying rush would take up the heavy lifting of slamming romney with it every day until the election

most others thought pawlenty was silly to do sun am mention and mon pm back off - i agree - seemed like a guy who didn't want to fight - soft - which supports his MO publicly and Bill O'Reilly's Mr. Vanilla comment

Michele Bachman is pretty - period - 23 foster kids?? jesus - think she puts them to work at her estate??? ;)

loved how they talked about their wives, kids, etc - family people ....... the anti weiners ;)

still think the format blew and jon king sorta over his head (i generally like him)

I found this interesting tidbit at Factcheck this AM. Totally Republican!!

GOP New Hampshire Debate
What seven candidates got wrong -- and right -- in a nationally televised debate.

Summary

In the first New Hampshire debate among 2012 presidential hopefuls, we found a number of incorrect, misleading or shaky factual claims:

Pawlenty was wrong when he boasted that he was "one of the few governors" to respond to a Bush request to send guardsmen to the southern border. In fact, all 50 states participated in that border operation.
Romney claimed that "we didn't raise taxes in Massachusetts" to pay for his health care law. In fact, his successor imposed a $1-a-pack tax increase on cigarettes to pay for the new law.
Santorum claimed a Medicare advisory board created by the new federal health care law will result in a rationing of care for seniors. The law specifically says the board “shall not include any recommendation to ration health care.”
Santorum was wrong when he said the Obama administration is "against any kind of exploration offshore or in Alaska." The administration has approved 296 new permits for new offshore oil wells since taking office, and it is considering granting the first permits in Alaska since 2004.
Bachmann claimed the Congressional Budget Office "has said that Obamacare will kill 800,000 jobs." That's a distortion. CBO said some Americans would work less or leave their jobs if they can get health insurance outside the workplace.
Pawlenty said that "[if] Brazil can have 5 percent growth, then the United States of America can have 5 percent growth," showing his economic plan is not unreasonable. But the fact is, World Bank figures show Brazil has failed to achieve 5 percent growth for 23 of the past 30 years.
Gingrich again tried to rewrite history by claiming that his words "right-wing social engineering" were "totally taken out of context." In fact, he called Paul Ryan's plan "too big a jump" and "radical" change as well.

It was nothing more than a Bash-Obama program what no one watched.

Michele Bachmann is well groomed. Take a look at her in person and she's not pretty. She looks about as worn out as a fishwife could be and no wonder having all those kids in the house. Why don't they interview her husband and have him talk about his gay-conversion therapy.

Pawlenty is a desperate weasel and will say and do anything to give himself the appearance of a legitimate politician, which he isn't.

it was no contact sport for sure - some pundits said the other 6 were vying for the VP gig so can't trash your future boss ;)

in general, bashing obama and his policies is the right play - they're republicans after all - and with a sitting repub president i imagine we would see the same but opposite

it's politics

remember the scene in a few good men where tom cruise's character has to decide whether or not to go after jack nicholson's character? and demi moore says back off - or maybe it was the other co-counsel who said it

but he doesn't listen - he goes after him

pawlenty should have - would've been good theater and interesting to see if others jumped in

he wimped out

i think he's pretty bright but this was a bad flip flop

as for michelle's husband ........... that's lame to bring that up

Pawlenty PUNKED out when he had the chance to Jap-Slap Pretty Boy Romney.....

I just don't see why Ron Paul continues to run. He looks like he should be sitting in front of a window "peeking" out curtains or blinds...

And Herman Cane...Poor guy doesnt know Shit...People are already mistaking him for that New Yorker that said "The Rent is too Damn High".....And That NASTY, half-baked GodFather's Pizza he's selling in the Gas stations on the East Coast is CRAP...

John Kerry's Bitch made GREAT Ketchup..McCain's Bitch made GREAT selling Beer....Nobody wants Herman's FROZEN Ass pizza from the Gas Station when the .99-cent rotating Hot Dog tastes better...Damn Papa Johns should be running for President..At least his Fucking Pizza is a National success....

Queen Bat-Shit Michele Bachman was Camera ready and knew which camera to look at while she was flirting with John King...23 Foster kids my Ass..Ask her where the Damn kitchen is in her Mansion and she won't know. Chelly ain't running for Shit other than to become the 2nd Coming of that Alaskan Bitch...

Pretty-Boy Romney just stood there all night long with that Devilish Smirk on his face...Then the next day he went to some Hole in the Wall Diner PRETENDING he ate there before & hugging up on the peasants....Real soon he'll travel once again to some Black neighborhood like he did in 2008 where he'll hand out Herman Cane's Nasty Ass Frozen pizzas and try to convince them he's a light-skinned "Brotha"..

The Circus is on it's way to your town real soon.....|...

He makes more sense than the any member of the group on the stage the other night.

Cool mustache too.

I like him.

I think Ron Paul is the rare "true believer," who's running to get publicity for his libertarian ideas.

I don't agree with him, but I wouldn't mind seeing a "true believer" progressive run a futile campaign in the democratic primaries to get some publicity for universal health care and pulling out of Iraq/Afghanistan.

I guess my question for Ron Paul is .........

and why do we have you in office if the govt. isn't supposed to do anything?

To prove just how bad this crop of Republican candidates are, even the doddering old fool John McCain thinks those who debated are bottom dwellers.

These candidates are so desperate to trash Obama, they'll say anything to oppose the President, even moving into isolationism.

I found this article interesting:

McCain rips Republican candidates for 'isolationism'

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41787051/ns/politics

If President Obama says tall, the GOP will say short. If Obama says thin, they'll say fat. I've never seen such a desperate bunch.
