Republicans don't care about 9/11 responders

News flash: Republicans don't care about anyone who isn't rich, white, male, straight, and Christian.

You also forgot fetus. After the fetus is born, then they couldn't give a shit about it. It would be great if they cared as much for life as they do unborn life.

Meh. You support every other Republican wingnut agenda item. And NOW you're upset? LMAO! Give me a break. Australia (nor Singapore) wants you.

Have to say...

This pretty much sums up my feelings.

I don't see any outrage on the other issues, including DADT.

...and please don't decide to move to Canada either.

Generalizing is nice right? I'm a moderate, I support things which benifit me. Anyways I've supported 1 republican-esk thing on this board and thats basically socialization of medicine and personally I favor a reform of the system. But again I like how not agreeing with you on 1 thing = agreeing with every republican agenda item. That's very affective thinking.

Sorry I told you I don't like your frozen wasteland. So you don't have to worry about me ending up on your side of the Tundra ;). Anyways DADT I'm against it, but that topic is already won ( Pragmatist can step back). But like I said there are plenty of issues that republicans are for that I'm strictly against. In the sameway that I think many of the things democrats have no stones these days.

Anyways your ingroup v.s outgroup views are very heuristic. Just because I don't agree with everything you believe is right doesn't mean I don't agree with anything.

Republicans have been doing this for two years.... childishly blocking every single fucking thing they can... they don't give a shit what it is..

It's all so they can claim the president hasn't done anything.

Republicans don't care about anyone but themselves. Just a bunch of greedy opportunists and Nazis.

Not like this is much worse than most of the shit they've pulled in the last couple of years. But hopefully this one will wake people up to what a bunch of slimebags you can find on the right.

So much for the party of Compassion. Compassion for the rich and powerful.

Thanks to voters in 2010 giving control of the House to GOP.

Eric Cantor isn't Christian.
(And I was going to say Sarah Palin isn't male -- but you specifically said Republicans, you didn't say conservatives. Seems most of the Republican establishment don't like Palin.)

Palin isn't conservative, either. In fact most of the Republicans in Congress, especially the new batch, aren't conservative -- they're reactionary.

Right there is what is wrong with America. It's why Congress is so corrupt -- they vote for things that benefit them. It's why for-profit mega-corporations have so much power -- they buy politicians who vote for what benefits them.

I rarely vote for things that will benefit me. When I do, it's because it's what's right, not because it would benefit me. I've voted against a lot of thins that would benefit me, because they weren't the right thing to do.

Supporting things that benefit you doesn't make you a moderate, it makes you a plunderer.

You misinterpreted my comment.
Conservatives like Palin.

(Republicans/conservatives don't care about anyone who isn't rich, white, male, straight, and Christian.
Unless they are an unborn fetus.
)

I would think most conservatives don't like Palin, because they're not really into reactionary bigots. Though it's hard to tell; the Republicans keep their few conservatives in a pen these days and only let them out to vote.

Welcome to the most individualistic culture on the world. But anyways what's right for you may not always be right for me eh?

true, and opinions always change when faced with a trigger, a handful of Franklins, popularity, and public support.

Yup. Agreed!

For example, I hear so fucking often, from suburbanites in America that they don't use mass transit so why should they vote for it. Then when you point out that their commute is shorter because 15% to 30% of commuters DO take mass transit, and that if it was eliminated, they'd be on the roads alongside them with HUGE delays in getting to work. But due to their wingnut cognitive dissonance they refuse to admit that they benefit not only indirectly, but frankly directly from the US Federal govt.

Asshats like this can't be reasoned with, hence why they need to be deported to North Korea.

With that argument, I just ask them if they'd like to start paying the actual cost of roads -- and the cost of what it would take to build enough roads to handle the traffic they'd rather have be cars.

But the more common argument against mass transit is that it isn't cost effective. That's a good argument -- except that the subsidy per passenger on the mass transit tends to be less than the subsidy per passenger in private, non-commercial vehicles. The difference is that we see the subsidy for the mass transit passengers; the subsidy for the roads is hidden.

And to me that's an argument for cutting roads loose from the government like mass transit is, where it can ask for money to run but is supposed to do its best without that. The result would be that everyone would hear about the figures it actually takes to run our roads, even in their crappy condition. So when the director of the regional highway authority had to ask the regional governmental council for an extra $500 per car for the next operating year, just to keep the roads from getting worse, it would be on TV -- just like the subsidies for the mass transit.
