Resident Evil 5 [MERGED]

Re: Three Resident Evil Games Announced For Wii

Only if "updated wii controls" for the WIIMakes, are Resident Evil Four style.

But they've been out in japan for sometime now, and so far the screens look the same as the old one, and the updated controls... doesn't mean much (As in, not RE4 Wii Controls), other than the puzzle maybe.
Also kind of sad Darkside Chronicles is on-rail... I'm not a big fan of playing those by myself.

If they add some kind of online co-op that be nice. It's hard to get any of my friends to play the first one with me...

but back to Zero, and the REmake... They're practically straight ports...

Okay, that makes them suck a lot more. I already have them both on Gamecube so what's the point.
I'll get Darkside Chronicles because I liked Umbrella Chronicles.

I want a Resi 3 remake too. Jill is my fav! (*8*)

Re: Resident Evil 5

^Ugh, is chapter 3-2 the oil refinery? I think I died 3 or 4 times there. Stupid chainsaw guys and computer-controlled Sheva!

Re: Resident Evil 5

Thats the place!

Sheva's been not so bad.

I keep her stocked with a fully loaded Handgun, with all three stars on critical...

I however run out of ammo rather quickly and have come to rely on her aiming. However I do deliver quite a lot of physical blows and knifies! The damn dogs are what take so much of my ammo when I run into them..... I hate the dogs!

Yeah, I could only beat the oil refinery when someone joined me online. When the computer controls Sheva, she follows too close and one of us gets beheaded.

Wow, you already have a weapon with critical? I'm getting close with the handgun and shotgun, but I'm already at chapter 6-1. Do you revisit old chapters to get more money? I've pretty much been playing straight through.

The shotgun is best on dogs. And I think incendiary rounds kill them with one hit. It's the bugs that are tricky -- I found out after dying 2 or 3 times that you have to use electricity #-o

Re: Resident Evil 5

Give Sheva the "close" command and buy her the Stun Rod. Save you a ton of ammo and she bash anything that makes it past your gun range! :) Loving the game. But way better with a friend then playing with the AI.

Re: Three Resident Evil Games Announced For Wii

A friend of mine told me bout it loool ;)

i'm very excited to see RE2 back on wii

Re: Resident Evil 5

me and my boyfriend have been playing too...he's Chris..I'm Sheva...since I've always been apprehensive of gameplay of the RE games (stop, point, and shoot always pissed me of....still does after playing RE5...I want to at least walk and shoot dammit :) )

we're at 2-2 now...and we like it....though we both hate the "cutscenes that aren't just cutscenes"...and he's used to them cause of RE4...but he still hates them....I just wanna know how a chain to the shoulder kills someone ;p

Re: Resident Evil 5

^Me! I wanna squeeze them!

I beat them game today. I wanna go revisit certain levels and use my suped up weapons.

Oh, and I'm addicted to Mercenaries!!!!

Re: Three Resident Evil Games Announced For Wii

i heard that the RE0 and RE1 remake are only for japanese territories but i could be wrong .

i love RE1 made me jump outta my seat ^_^

Re: Three Resident Evil Games Announced For Wii

I want a REMAKE of Resident Evil 2, not a Rail shooter. Fuck that. I want my rumored remake.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I thought the ending was kind of anticlimactic to be honest, when the lead-up to it had been so epic.

I just beat it today as well and felt the same way. I still think the game kicked ass though.

BTW who else hated those damn Reapers?](*,)

Re: Resident Evil 5

i cant wait to get this game for my PS3 ^_^ gonna be awesome .

Wesker is a total bad-ass!

Re: Resident Evil 5

Just wrapped up my first playthrough and I have to say I loved it. However, it seems to me they planned it out to focus more on co-op than solo play. Since I rather enjoy solo play on games such as this, it was interesting.

I will say this much, though: Sheva rarely did something that messed me up. I kept her in 'cover' so she didn't run out shooting and for the most part she wasn't messing up. In fact, I found her quite helpful.

The return to an older inventory system was a little disappointing as I always found myself running out of ammo or unable to pick up ammo. I got used to it though.

Time to try mercs...my desire to destroy zombies/las plagas has been feuled by this great game...and dammit I want to kill one of those freaking crocodiles! Come up and bite me dead...I'll blow your head off dead...

I dunno if some people don't want this little surprise ruined, so I'll hide it:

Enemies wielding guns was awesome! Talk about intense!

I'm happy...this game is going to keep me entertained for a long time...

Re: Resident Evil 5

I have a friend that is just like your brother.lol He could never make it past the first part of the last game. He gets frustrated way to easily with some games.
Ha! I only got to the part where you had to fight those invisible insect things in the castle's sewer. Years later I downloaded a completed save file for it on the PS3. That was the only way I could get to Ada's extra missions.

I want to buy Resi 5 but this kind of game unsettles me to the point where I couldn't be arsed to finish it (even though I finished Dead Space! Yeah!). From what I've heard though a lot of reviews say it isn't scary at all and that it's a lot like Gears of War 2 (which was great). I see it features a lot of carbon copied set-pieces from the last game like the "giant troll fight" and the "holed up in a house with zombies attacking said house" scene.

Also, since Sheva gets that tribal outfit, what does Chris get? In a perfect world he'd be dressed like Tarzan but I'm guessing modified mobster regalia, right?

Re: Resident Evil 5

I've read a lot of complaints online about Sheva being useless and fucking people up but I'm on chapter 4 on solo now and I haven't had any problems with her. Aside from her questionable ammo usage, she's been pretty good.

Although at the end of chapter 3-1 when you get ambushed in the little village by a big group along with 2 large majini, I realised she just started following me around and I figured she'd used up all of her bullets. It was only after the fight that I noticed I must have accidentally set her back to cover mode and so I'd killed most of them myself while she stood and watched. At least it saved all her bullets heh.

The only thing I really heard people criticize about Sheva is her enthusiasm with ammo.lol Going into the game I was dreading that she was going to be in the way and not useful. She turned out to be the opposite and I had no trouble with her. They did a great job with AI and I certainly hope they bring her back for another outing.

Re: Resident Evil 5

The whole stop and shoot thing isn't what bothers me. I think it's great to keep it in because it induces more panic and fear. If they took it out and let you move whilst shooting you wouldn't be nearly as worried about your health would you?

I've only played the demo and the only problem I had with the controls was how you accessed your herbs and ammo. You press 'Y'? and then select it while everything is moving around you. Since I'm not used to the xbox controls anyway it made things a whole lot more fiddly. Can't do it quick enough.

You can use the d-pad to select items too (you can only do this with 4 items, since there are only 4 directions on the d-pad). It definitely helps when you're in a tight situation.

I actually liked the inventory system in RE4 way better, even though carrying a huge attache case around doesn't make much sense. And I really hate it when your inventory is full and you can't use an herb unless you make some room for it. I think RE4 allowed you to use an herb on the spot, so I don't know why they took a step back with this game

Re: Resident Evil 5

Ok...there is one certain fight where Sheva just needs to grow a brain. Granted this didn't happen the first time, but I've given her THREE first aid sprays and SOMEHOW she just can't manage to live. It's pissing me off...all I have to do is a certain amount of damage to force a retreat and she can't survive long enough to allow me to do that...*sigh* sometimes preferring solo play is a pain...

Oh, and did I mention the game itself is programmed to be a JERK! ONE STEP from healing her and a cutscene tosses me far from her and she dies.

Re: Resident Evil 5

For that fight you don't have to do anything apart from stay alive for 7 minutes (unless you're going for the 'Bad Blood' trophy/achievement, then you do need to force the retreat)

Oh I know. The first time I did that. But I wanted to get the achievement PLUS collecting all the treasures. One of the treasures you have to force the retreat and then during the second fight go pick the item up between the stairs.

I just used the rocket launcher I got earlier in the game at the right time and it worked perfectly.
