It's a foregone conclusion England will retain the Ashes in Australia during the 2006/7 tour ..|

It seems the cricketing authorities in OZ are already doing their best to make sure English supporters have a difficult time buying tickets [-X

It seems the Aussies are accepting the fact that the only ashes they will be seeing for a long time will be those on the b-b-q ;)

I hope you have a supply of humble pie in the larder.......

Oh I love it when they talk themselves up :D

Makes it all the more sweet when they fall flat on their faces ..|

Too true KWF. The Aussies are always talking themselves up  They even think they are the sexiest boys on the planet. Perhaps they are, when they are flat on their faces ;)

And I still think your avatar looks like Ricky Ponting :D

Just like the Poms - they finally win something for the first time in about 20 years - and suddenly think they are invincible. :##:

We'll see.

Plenty of seats left for the Melbourne Boxing Day Test (not for the first day), and for the one day games, so Cricket Australia tells us. 95000 people at the MCG on Boxing Day will be awesome. So you Poms come on down and see your team taken to the cleaners. Although the Balmy Army is a bit hard to take sometimes.

Balmy??? It seems the Aussies are so confused, they don't know their "rs" from their "els". ;)

We talk ourselves up? Oh maybe we do, not that we need to of course, our record speaks for itself ;)

I won't get into the "sexiest boys" debate.....this is after all about cricket isn't it? We won't be need to hit below the belt to win points on this one ;)

A superb response KWF. ..| I can't argue about the stats. But...

Just heard it on the morning news and was about to point out that unfortunate fact...

...but of course you beat me to it.

Commiserations.

At this stage I think you should point out that England are about to lose the third test to Sri Lanka and therefore draw the series with one of the weaker test teams in the world :D   #-o

Too bad. But then we came within a hairs breadth a couple of years back of losing to Bangladesh so we're all allowed our weak moments.

Generous spirit, aren't I?? :=D:

Ah - but we DIDN'T. :D
(I'm not as generous as you ;))

^ Yup - you're right...

But I think we'll have to continue to disagree about who's going to win it next (The Aussies of course!). ;)

Now that the "socceroos" have helped the Aussies to forget about losing the Ashes, does that make it even easier for England to retain the Ashes 2006/7?

Is the Aussie media, even now, preparing an advertising campaign for England's Ashes winning tour later this year?

Let's hope so, if it matches the "haka" spoof ..|

Might I suggest a few subtle slogans:

"Flintoff can F***off."

"Shake the Pom-poms for Australia."

"Tie a yellow ribbon round the MCG."

"Is this the way to ram a willow?"

"Roo can't be serious."

;) ;) ;)

hehe - I'm glad you have such a good sense of humour Greaves...

It'll make it so much easier for you to be cheerful when England lose :p

England have today beaten Pakistan by an innings and 120 runs to go 1-0 up in the series. :=D:

Can the Aussies now seriously think they are going win the Ashes in the upcoming Test series in Australia?

Indeed, is it not time for Australians to accept the fact that the only sport they excel in is Australian Football, which no other country in the world plays or understands?

TriBi: it was my birthday when I said that;) And as I share my birthdate with Rasputin and Mussolini, and am a Leo like Napoleon and Mick Jagger...;)

Test match v Pakistan starts tomorrow at Headingly. Should be a cracker..|

Aww...Happy birthday!! (:bday: belatedly)

Hope it was good - and hope it wasn't the hangover that kept you from coming back on this one for so long (J/K).

Actually - the cricket should be good. Having some of the England team playing here in the lead up might make things interesting...it is probably always more difficult to be truly competitive when you are not in your "own" season (tho' I tend to think this affects some sportsmen less than others - let's say Cricketers less than Rugby League players, for instance;)).

Thanks:D Good day for England today v Pakistan. The upcoming Ashes series promises to be one of the most exciting ever.
