Retaining The Ashes 2006/7

ICC Champions Trophy 5 Nov 2006 Mumbai India

In today's final match Aust vs the West Indies, rain has stopped play. But Aust nees 94 from 240 balls to win.

Go Aussi!

The Aussies blew the Windies away today in the Champions Trophy in Mumbai. Congrates to them.:=D:

The real Tests begin 23/11/06 at Brisbane. The Aussies are obviously worried as they are starting the game at midnight GMT!!! I wonder what other tricks they have up their armguards.;)

its about time we won the damn thing it was starting to get annoying having never won it
it was a great night of sport with the aussies thrashing ireland in the international rules match as well

tommorows melbourne cup i cant wait

We've got tickets to the Third Test in Perth, Dec 14th - 18th. Every day of the test is a complete sellout at the WACA. Can't wait!!! (!) (!)

I doubt it....none of my mates are into sports...I'm not going by myself#-o

Can't believe your mates are not into cricket. It's got googlies, long legs, silly points, new balls, caught behind, third men, popping creases, front legs, back legs, bouncers, full tosses, slips, fine legs, overthrows, raised fingers...

I guess Aussies just don't understand the nuances of the game.;)

it seems england are having fun already

dont worry it was onlt a 166 point loss to a PM's XI;)

yep what an inglorious start for the Poms! losing a 50 over game in Canberra against a very non-descript (except Jaques, who has just written himself into the Australian XI) Prime Minister's XI.

Oz 50 overs 347
Poms 38 overs 181

They could not bat out their 50 overs! Shame, England, Shame.

it seems that england brought almost all of their bowlers into this match vs NSW to find out who should be in the team

unfortunatly for them all of them have been:spank:

NSW 5/ 325

getting your ass kicked by a state team priceless

As someone who lives in New Zealand, all I can say is...

GO ENGLAND!!!!

I read a witty quote in the paper today about a previous English team visiting Oz for an Ashes Series:

"They can't bat. They can't bowl. And they can't field. Apart from that, they are a very good side."

Does not, of course, apply to the English team now. ;)

About 48 hours to go to the 1st Test in Brisbane. Would be great to hear from any JUBbers who are there.

Well, they just mentioned on the news here that, if England wins the series 3 - 0, they become the number one team in the world.

Bookies have that as a 20 - 1 shot...so I don't think it seems too likely.;)

The BATtle to retain the Ashes starts in URNest, in Brisbane, in about 5 hours.

Whilst most JUBbers will be responding to the laTEST SILLY POINT in the "Do FULL LENGTH GOOGLIES turn you ON or OFF?" thread in Hot Topics, Ricky and Freddy will be TOSSING a coin to decide who goes in first.

Joking apart, this series of Test matches is going to be one of the greatest sporting events of 2006-2007.

Can England retain the Ashes in Australia? I think they can. Why? Because Australia are looking back. They are relying on past performers like Warne, Ponting, and McGrath. England are looking ahead.

Your thoughts?

its not about looking fowards or backwards it is about playing the best cricket team and thats what were doing and if you guys had mcgrath ,warne and ponting ect they would be playing for you guys to

also england WILL NOT retain the ashes

Australia 1st Innings: 3/346 overs(90)
Not a bad score at stumps on Day 1 ...... FUCKEN AWESOME!!!

And as for Ricky Ponting ..... 136 not out ..... what a Captain's knock!!!

GO THE GREEN AND GOLD!!!
