I can't believe the comments of posters in these threads. I've never seen such caustic bile being leveled against the LGBT community. Can you say you are surprised?
A few common findings:
*Faith in God.
*Moral absolutes.
*Special treatment.
*Gays are disgusting.
*Opening the gates to polygamy.
*Do not agree with the "lifestyle."
*Majority says no to gay marriage.
*Laws are based on Christian morality.
*Trying to ram the agenda down our throats.
*Gays try to indoctrinate kids into their "lifestyle."
*Gays will ruin civilization like the downfall of empires in the past.
*One or two conservatives will elicit support for gay marriage only to be pig-piled by everyone else.
A new front in the gay marriage conflict
What's the most toxic environment to raise a child?
Gay rights issues
Gays pissed at the obaminator
As goes Maine, so goes the nation
I sincerely hope that you're not shocked by any of that.
You're probably not aware that each time some one clicks on one of those links from this website/thread/forum, that the site administrators there can directly link back to us here on JUB.
As a Moderator here I can tell you that we see far more than the members who post here do when it comes to JustUsBoys.com coming under attack from outside sources.
Fortunately, over the years, we've developed an arsenal of "
moderating tools" to assist us in fending off most cyber attacks.
We rely on the members here to bring some of those "new posters" to our attention.
But more important than all of that, those individuals posting there are your neighbors, your coworkers, your friends, and quite possibly members of your own family, and I'd bet members of your own party.
Yes, that's right!
As a credentialed member of the Texas Democratic Party I've heard the same comments spit out in committee meeting by members of my own party.
So it's not just a "conservative" or partisan issue, it goes much deeper than that.
Which is why it's important for us to continue to break down the walls of our self-imposed closets, and remind many of these people that those that they proclaim to hate are actually people that they claim to love.
Though in fairness, many of us choose to remain quite more so out of "self-preservation" than to make an individual
political statement.
But in a way
coming out is political.
We force those individuals with their blind hatred and ignorance to some "unknown" into facing a known.
My "Christian" Niece, when she discovered that I was Gay, said "I don't support my uncle's
lifestyle."
When she got knocked up from a guy from her church and then decided to not only not marry the guy, but to prevent him from having any contact with his son, I made it clear that I didn't support her lifestyle either.
How can one set of "laws" apply to one but not the other?
But then to attempt to legislate "morality" and scream foul when others expect (or as we're accused; demand) equal exceptence/special rights?
In addition to coming out, I have no problem pointing out the religious hypocrisy within their own arguments.
I studied the Bible, and have learned to quote "scripture" far better than those who hang outside of local Gay Bars in the city hope to "convert us from our evil ways."
The arrogance of their self-proclaimed righteous position is astounding!
If you don't believe in "Gay Marriage" then DON'T HAVE ONE!
Just don't deny me that right why you go about trashing your own.
