She wont win any of those. She didnt write anything on the album and "Umbrella" isnt esactly a grammy contender since it was thrown around to numerous record labels before it was picked up. Grammy awards usually go to original song made by the singer.

I remember watching the Grammy's and all the other nominees had either written their songs, or had co-written them, with the exception of Jones, and lo and behold, she wins. It was just absurd.
If Rihanna somehow manages to win anything at the Grammy's, that'll really say where music is heading these days. Then again, the Pussycat Dolls were nominated last year, so that might've been it.
Ok, time for a reality check. Alicia Keys is a gifted pianist, excellent songwriter and incredible voice. To try and compare all of that to Rihanna is a joke.
Record sales in no way impact the importance of a superior artist. Rihanna may sell well because little girls and fem guys are attracted to the nursery rhyme lyrics and music. But any chick with a half-decent voice could have made this album. She's a beautiful girl, tho, so keep posting those pics.

I just looked it up and its true, she didnt write it and not only that it was a cover that was on Jesse Harris's album from 1999. Since that is the case, i can understand it winning vocal performance but how did it win, Record and song of the year when it was already on another persons album? Oh ok i just checked and there is a precident which means its allowed because Whitneys version of, "I Will Always Love You" won Record of the year. Well at least every one knew IWALU was a cover but people were lead to believe that, "Dont know why" was an original song.

The production of Umbrella is stellar, the lyrics meaningful, only Rihanna could have pulled it off with her vocals and its the biggest song of the year not only in America but literally the entire world ( which consists of more than just "little girls and fem guys")
Its one of the most covered songs ever? If a song and lyrics are so "nursery school/bad/horrible" why do so many people like it enough to record it?

Who is comparing the two singers? I only mentioned "No One" because it just made the cut for eligibility but given that Alicia lost her voice ( listen to Fallin'), the song cannot compete with Umbrella. In any event one is pop and the other is R&B, diferrent categories.
And the real sick joke is Alicia winning 5 grammys in one night while India Arie didnt even get one.

In what seemingly a favorite track to cover, Rihanna's 'Umbrella' has been remade in Plain White T's version. The pop rock band that shot to fame through 'Hey There Delilah' recently covered the full version of the arguably biggest hit this year.
R&B song 'Umbrella' has been covered by many musicians often not in the same genre. Up and coming singer Marie Digby posted her acoustic version on YouTube and received praise while Mandy Moore's ballad version also gained high airplay.
The most recent cover is by rock bands My Chemical Romance that did the chorus during Projekt Revolution Tour and Biffy Clyro that played their cover during Radio One's Live Lounge performance.

Yea these lyrics have no meaning whatsoever with regard to personal relationships (where is that damn sarcastic smiley). So many different artist from different genres singing the same meaningless, nursery school lyrics, i wonder why? LOL
Grammy voters know they messed up last year by not nominating, S.O.S and Unfaithful, so i would not be surprized if they show her ALOT of love on December 8th. Many critics thought S.O.S and Unfaithful were contenders but they didnt get nominated.
The Grammys like the Oscars like to give make up awards when they know they did something bad the previous year,

Oh i just remembered something, I believe in Rihanna and her drive to succeed and her engine of talent, but you know something? even if she retires after winning her Grammy next year, 20 years later Rihanna will still be in the record books.
With Umbrella she has made music history and no amount of years is gonna change that.
No, Cuz i Know She Will Be Forgotten, All She Does Is Sample Music From 80s New Wave bands, she doesnt even write her own songs, if she gained some artistic credebility, maybe there might be some hope for her in the future, but for someone who relies on others to write their music, and samples others music heavily, there is no hope!
