Re: Rihanna - Loud

Including her.

I don't care for the video as much as I like the song but her and Drake do make a cute couple. I wonder why that never worked out...

The red hair has actually grown on me after my initial hatred for it.

I've been a huge fan of Rihanna since the days when her songs sucked and she was irrelevant. I felt connected to her immediately because like her, my dad is from Barbados and I spent a good portion of my childhood there. Basically, I'm incredibly biased and will say very little negative about her, no matter how wrong I might be (and am often completely unwilling to admit ).

Re: Rihanna - Loud

I'm not really a Rihanna fan. I liked Umbrella and Rude Boy, but something about her kind of annoys me, idk. I did listen to Raining Men tho & I liked that, thanks in large part to Nicki Minaj.

Re: Rihanna - Loud

Rihanna performing at this years AMAs :). Honestly, her performances have always been kind of meh (except she did pretty well with Umbrella some years back), but this was kind of an improvement . I just always feel like she's missing something on stage.

Agreed 100%. I LOVE Rihanna, but I'd be lying if I said she was a great performer. I know exactly what you mean when you say she's missing something on stage, and I think that something is charisma. I almost want to say she's a bit shy on stage. She is, at least to me, a likable person, but not one that you're instantly drawn to just based on her personality. She's definitely getting a lot better with her stage presence though. Super proud of her.

Re: Rihanna - Loud

Her stage setup doesn't always help either. She was the only thing on stage for a lot of that performance.

I'm thinking about performers that get a lot of publicity, such as GaGa, and it's rare that she's ever on stage by her lonesome..unless she's on the piano.

I agree with this as well. Considering the kind of music she does (excluded some from Rated R and some other songs here and there), her performances are best when accompanied by some physical energy surrounding her, be it dancers, cool set pieces, etc. The opening with Love the Way You Lie Part II worked well with her being solo, but the fact that most of What's My Name? was just her on stage seemed odd to me.

Re: Rihanna - Loud

Complicated, only girl, my name, and S&M

all amazing but nothing that can top Rated R

oh and she KILLED it on stage last night

her best performance point blank ever she almost turned me Bi

Two weeks after topping the Billboard Hot 100 with “What’s My Name?” (featuring Drake), Rihanna will return to No. 1 on the chart released Thursday (Nov. 25) with “Only Girl (In the World),” the debut single from her new album, “Loud.”

It’s the first time in Hot 100 history that an album’s debut single reaches No. 1 after the second single does. “What’s My Name” dips 7-8 on the Hot 100, though it does take the Airplay Gainer for a fourth straight week. “Loud”, meanwhile, debuts at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

“Only Girl” is Rihanna’s fourth single to ascend to No. 1 in 2010, making her the first female, and first artist overall since Usher in 2004, to hit the top that many times in a single calendar year. Rihanna also moves to the forefront for most No. 1s in the millennium (since 2000), as “Only Girl” is her ninth track to lead the list. She had been tied with Usher for the past two weeks, with eight chart-toppers since 2000.

List of Rihanna’s No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100:

•S.O.S. (2006)
•Umbrella (2007)
•Take A Bow (2008)
•Disturbia (2008)
•Live Your Life (2008)
•Rude Boy (2010)
•Love The Way You Lie (2010)
•What’s My Name (2010)
•Only Girl (2010)
Artists with the most number-one hits in the US:

•The Beatles (20)
•Mariah Carey (1 8)
•Elvis Presley (17)
•Michael Jackson (13)
•Madonna (12)
•The Supremes (12)
•Whitney Houston (11)
•Janet Jackson (10)
•Stevie Wonder (10)
•Rihanna (9)
•Bee Gees (9)
•Elton John (9)
•Usher (9)

Re: Rihanna - Loud

That Rihanna reign just won’t let up. The pop siren has lots to be thankful for this Thanksgiving after scoring her career best on the charts this week.

The red-haired singer swoops in at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 207,000 copies sold of her fifth album Loud, earning her a career best in first-week sales and her fifth top 10 bow.

Meanwhile, RiRi claims her ninth No. 1 single with “Only Girl (In the World),” a feat that puts her in prestigious territory. With the accomplishment, the Bajan crooner becomes the only artist since 2000 to have as many chart-topping singles, besting Usher who has scored eight No. 1s since the start of the decade. Not only that, but “Only Girl” becomes her fourth No. 1 single this year, making her the first female and first overall artist since Usher to nab as many No. 1 tracks in a year, according to Billboard.

She celebrated by sharing her excitement on Twitter. “Only Girl is no. 1!!! HOLY FUCK!!! And thx to u guys, I’ve had the biggest first week of all my albums so far! #whosloud ???? We are bitches,” she wrote. “Congrats to RihannaNavy! We breakin our OWN records!!! 9 no.1′s baby…We got the #CenturyOnLockWho’s badder than yall??”

After holding down the top spot two weeks ago, her second single “What’s My Name?” drops 7-8 on the Hot 100, while the Drake-assisted collaboration earns Airplay Gainer for the fourth consecutive week.

Keeping Rihanna company on the Billboard 200 is Scottish singer Susan Boyle, who bows at No. 1 with 335,000 copies sold of her holiday album The Gift, while Nelly’s 5.0 enters at No. 10 with 63,000 units.

Re: Rihanna - Loud

People need to fuck off when it comes to Rihanna's album sales. When has rihanna ever sold 700k albums her first week?

Her strength is her singles and her singles are being promoted not her album

Something I notice is artists with huge cult followings (Taylor swift, Eminem, Susan Boyle) are the ones who sale "Albums".

The only thing I have a gripe with is I don't think Rihanna has a designated fan base. I mean Gaga has the gays and Minaj has her legion of 13-30 year old hood rats what does rih have?

Obviously she has fans like me all around the world but I feel a huge dissconect from her that leads to her album sales. In my opinion of course

Just heard Love the way you lie pt 2 on the radio. I almost screamed in pure joy but my dad was in the car

looks like Rihanna is going to ride Eminem's coat tails to another Grammy.

I thought the Brits had better taste. Guess I was wrong.

Rihanna's "Loud" album (Def Jam/Universal) achieved its first week at No. 1 on the U.K.'s first sales charts of 2011, as Matt Cardle's "When We Collide" (Syco Music/Sony Music Entertainment) began a third week atop the singles survey. There was more good news for Rihanna as Cardle's single narrowly failed to overtake Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie" (Interscope/Universal), on which she is featured, as the territory's best-selling single of 2010.

"Loud" debuted at No. 2 in late November and had climbed back there to spend the last two weeks in runner-up spot, but finally reached the summit to end the six-week reign of Take That's "Progress" (Polydor/Universal). Plan B's former No. 1 "The Defamation of Strickland Banks" (679/Atlantic/Warner Music) climbed back 21-3 in its 38th week. London rapper Tinie Tempah's "Disc-overy" (Parlophone/EMI) surged back 26-4 and pop band the Wanted's self-titled Geffen/Universal debut 22-5.

why is this considered "controversial"?

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdS6HFQ_LUc[/ame]

I don't think it's the video so much as the song. Nothing any other video doesn't have really. Except maybe the blow up doll. Other than that not controversial at all to me. I'm at a loss as to why it's so considered so as well.

I would imagine that if there were anything controversial about the video, it would be a couple of the costumes. However, I really think the controversy has more to do with the song's subject/lyrical content than the actual video. She's worn clothing that's been just as revealing in other videos.

Poor Rihanna

Her singing was like a bad high school talent show.

Eminem and Dre were good and that other girl that sang was so good I thought she was lip syncing.

Re: Poor Rihanna

Most of time when she's singing live, Rihanna sounds like two androids in the midst of hatefucking.

I'm glad I turned the channel and missed it. :gogirl:

I know right? I mean there's no question that I LOOOVE Rihanna, but I'd be lying if I said I don't get butterflies in my stomach every time she's about to perform. But hey, nobody ever said she had a great voice. ;)
