Rihanna's Record Breaking Umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh #1 Worldwide

^ Ok, you're going a lil' bit over the top here !

I myself am not a big fan of Ri or anything, but to say she can't sing is SO not true. Ok, she doesn't have Beyonce's or Mariah's voice (then again, who does ?! Lol ;)) BUT she has a really good voice, especially for her age...

And all 3 above mentioned artists have either good (JT), really good (Usher) or amazing (Beyonce) voices ! If you wanna set an example about artists with mediocre/little talent who've had No1s you can say Madonna or Britney and the likes...

Rihanna battled Mary J. Blige to record her whirlwind international hit ‘Umbrella’.

The Barbados born singer was devastated when she heard Blige wanted it as well.

“Any songwriter would die for Mary to sing one of their songs. So I just prayed that I got it. It was perfect for me - it had a West Indian groove,” Rihanna tells the British tabs. “When I saw one of the songwriters at the Grammy Awards, I went up to him and said, ‘Listen, ‘Umbrella’ is my song.’

“He must have thought I was really pushy and laughed it off. But I held his face and I turned it back to my own, ‘No, I’m serious, I need ‘Umbrella’.

“Two days later we found out the song was mine.”

Rihanna without makeup :),

 ^ No make-up ? I can see the orange on her cheecks and the "smoky eyes" !!

I very much appreciate Jay-z's working of "precipitation" into a rap lyric in this song.

:=D: :=D:

Wow i hope you guys didn't miss Rihanna performing UMBRELLA live at the MTV movie awards just now.

She was so incredible, i almost cried, i love her so much. She is only 19, so much success, her parents and brothers must be so proud of her back home in Barbados.

You could tell she was nervous but i loved how the camera cut to all the celebrities and all of them were singing along.

Rihanna is absolutely incredible, and she is just getting started. If you missed it, check youtube later.

Since there isn't a thread about the movie awards yet i'd just like to say that the audience treated Paris so horribly, it was disrespectful and unnecessary. I like Sarah but she was out of line for doing that Paris because she knew how the crowd would react and her penis joke was not funny. It was so sad seeing Paris face.

offtopic:

The song is ok, its number one here as well.

I don't think she will still have a career in five years time... she isn't doing anything special.

I like Rihanna and I like Beyonce' cant we all just get along.........BUT I'm still upset at Rihanna for picking shut up and drive as her second single there was so much better on that CD.

I saw the performance...well, it wasn't THAT good. She was just ok...

She did way better when she performed "SOS" last year at the EMAs

I dunno... I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and hope you are that dumb that you believe that.
What part of "rumored" was too difficult for you to grasp?

I could care less about either Beyonce or Rihanna. People were just wondering why Beyonce would care, and I was sharing info that I heard.

Rihanna performing her number 1 in 20 countries song UMBRELLA at the MTV AWARDS.

She was so awesome, check out how all the celebs were singing along with Rihanna :)

^ Ella, ella, eh, eh, eh :rotflmao:

I wouldn't bank on her sticking around for too long.

I bet your bank that you will be eating your words.

When Britney first came out she had 3 albums in 3 years, so whats your point?

Def Jan believed in Rihanna and Rihanna believed in herself which is why instead of dropping her they got to work on her second album which by the way is double platinum now OK.

Look how many artists came out the same year 2005 as Rihanna, but where are they now? are where is Rihanna?

And now Rihanna has the number 1 song in 20 countries at the same time. She is going to have the number 1 album in the country.

UMBRELLA is the first song by a female artist to EVER debut at number 1 in the UK based on downloads alone.

Rihanna is the new covergirl and Nike spokeswoman among other endorsement deals.

You best believe Rihanna is just getting started, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh (!)

Wow absolutely incredible.

(!) (!) (!)

UMBRELLA is still the number 1 song in the world on the United World Charts.

Umbrella has been number 1 on the UK charts for 8 straight weeks and 7 straight weeks on Billboard hot 100.

"Hey There Delilah" is creeping up behind Umbrella but i want it to hold off for at least another week so that Rihanna can go longer than "Irreplaceable"

Currently its a tie for 7 weeks straight, although UMBRELLA has sold a hell of alot more than Irreplaceable did LOL.

Ella, ella, eh, eh, eh :)

Well... like a certain website says... you can talk about Beyoncé without bringing out Rihanna, but you can't talk about Rihanna without bringing out Beyoncé.

I love Umbrella. Seriously, it's an awesome song.

But I'm not quiet convinced yet. I'd like to hear more hits from her. One song is not enough for me.

Or two I guess, I like Pon de Replay :) No, I didn't care for SOS.

^ what does he have to do with Rihanna having the number 1 song in the world for almost 9 weeks?

Ella, ella, eh, eh, eh.

This is the biggest song if the year Umbrella is.
