Weirdly enough though, I can't see it being Jews that are anihilated this time around though.

Definitely, under a Trump dictatorship, I can see them bringing back prison camps for catholic LatinX and islamic detainees and for the mentlally ill and homeless where these people would just 'disappear' because of disease, unless they work in Howard Lutnick's factories putting tiny screws into electronic devices.

I would tend to agree.

His base are trying to rehabilitate Hitler and the NAZIs through praising his 'good ideas', his view on controlling communications, etc. etc.

And just a reminder that Germany was not the only dictatorship in Europe in the 30's. Some of them lasted decades after WWII.

I had to look that up because I definitely have a copy on my bookshelf, which I had no trouble finding. Turns out the ban was for public schools and libraries in 1939, months after the book was published and has long since ceased to be. It was never banned from sale or possession. While I agree with the sentiment of that quote, the author needs to be less hyperbolic about that claim. It's misleading.

During the Biden Adminstration, AI tools were developed to screen the social media of foreigners who were applying for visas to enter the US. The intent was to pre-screen foreigners to find possible ties to terrorism or other red flags that would be cause for denying the visa.

The Trump Administration has repurposed those tools and they are now using them against students who are in the US on an F1 (student) visa. In particular, they are using the tools to find any anti-Semitic references. They are using students' free speech against them to support their preemptive intent to deport students, particularly Muslim students.

The move came nine weeks after President Trump signed executive orders to start a campaign to deport some foreign citizens, including those who might have “hostile attitudes” toward American “citizens, culture, government, institutions or founding principles.”

Mr. Trump also issued an executive order to begin a crackdown on what he called antisemitism, which includes deporting foreign students who have taken part in campus protests against Israel’s war in Gaza.

The thing that really bothers me about this is that we used to want foreign students to come to the US to get a taste of what liberal democracy, with its free speech and free exchange of ideas, felt like. Now, we're reminding them what policing of ideas by government looks like. These are also test cases for the American autocratic government to find ways to suppress free speech. We're already seeing Trump issue executive orders to the FBI and Justice Department to investigate US citizens.

The other thing that really bothers me is that there are a large number of students from totalitarian and autocratic countries who are in US graduate schools who have access to large amounts of data about American citizens. No one is looking at those students because we're too worried about giving cover to the Israeli government.
