Hi RM! Happy weekend!

I was shopping at Springfield Mall today, and THEY WERE TAKING DOWN THE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS. On December 27?!?!
I hadn't been to the mall in a while. It's my hometown mall, where I grew up, and I was delighted to see it full of shoppers and seemingly doing quite well! With Macy's and Target as anchors it seems to have escaped the "dead mall" blues.

I'm going to a not-surprise birthday party tomorrow. Someone - not me - blabbed. The birthday boy was told, though, that there would be a surprise guest, so he is expecting a mild surprise. I'm kinda wondering if the surprise is...me, since I didn't mention I was going. What a letdown that would be!

I have done more railway modelling today, in particular, working on a model of a diesel unit driving power car. I had to take it apart so that I could work on it’s motor. It was running erratically. It seems better now, but I had to keep taking it apart and putting it back together again to gauge how it was. I feel I have accomplished something just as long as it keeps going better than it was. ;)

So I had a good day with a visit to the grave, and then, in the early afternoon, a walk around the town with Andrew. The inevitable fireworks were let off at Midnight, but have now stopped. Also there was a wedding in one of our churches in the morning, and the bells were ringing for over one hour, I dread to think of the cost…;)

I’m okay, and have enjoyed a quiet day. I got out for an afternoon bike ride, and when opening my garage door I briefly looked up. I wish I hadn’t. The fibre optic cable to my flat has wrapped itself around the top of a lamp post - it will be from all the gales we have been having. So I will have to report it tomorrow - I just hope they get it unwrapped before the snow on Sunday.
