On-Topic Romney's First Foreign Trip a Disaster

And Romney speaks phenomenally poorly without a teleprompter. Perhaps your guy should catch up to the twentieth century.

I rest my case.

I think REST for u is a grand idea

Ah, the magic of Hollywood! I just rented the first season of The West Wing. I can't wait to view! :D

yes yes

I meant to write "movie" not move - huge Christopher Walken fan - see Deer Hunter if you've not already

^ Please explain to me how the manifestations of sociopathy constitute racism.

Perhaps he is correct and the British are not well prepared. They don't vote in our elections, remember 1776?

Romney was correct in that the British weren't prepared and it was an embarrassment for the British. Obviously it was a diplomatic No No, but that doesn't take away from the fact that Romney was correct in his criticism.

But we on the Left are being given our talking points from the media, so I guess everyone has a sense of running with it.

that's pretty racist... do all white people look alike to you or something?

I'm white, & I don't think its racist. What I see are 2 men with dead eyes. In other words, the smiles are fake, since the eyes aren't smiling. A sociopath & a plastic man, you choose.

I was struck by that as well Mystic. However the difficulty in international relations is NOT saying what is the truth but alluding to waht you would like the solution to work out as... the truth about countries and peoples rarely actually enters the discourse.

Yeah - you don't tell the UK in front of a camera that they're having some troubles with the Olympics

common sense needs to override the "truth" here

Narcissist? Which Presidential candidate presented to Quess with an iPod loaded with his own photos and speeches? And the unfortunate lady had to stand there smiling to give Hussein a photo op. No doubt she was thinking: The things I do for England.

Actually, only 2 of 39 audio tracks on the iPod were presidential speeches, and only 1 of 7 image folders contained photos of the president. Six of the seven image folders were of the queen herself, and 37 of 39 audio tracks were American musical scores. And, in addition to the iPod, her majesty received a rare musical songbook, autographed by Richard Rodgers.

And what did her majesty gift the president? A photograph of herself!

I'd question whether you can draw up a comprehensive psychological profile of someone based on a few pictures and their public persona.

Who is drawing up "a comprehensive psychological profile?"

Your contention seems to be that sociopathy cannot be appreciated by observations made outside of a psychiatrist's office. I would dispute that.

Their eyes are wild.

I noticed this a long time ago, Rex, when I posted a photo of Romney and Ted Bundy. Not very many other people agreed with me.

I don't doubt that there are a lot of people who don't want to see pathology in Romney's weird behavior and his bizarrely plastic persona. But, to me, it is striking and discomforting.

I think you could make a case that such disease should not disqualify one from the office of the presidency. But, I am not one who would agree with that assertion. I think an ability to empathize with American citizens is an important quality in a president. Romney lacks this. That, alone, makes him a poor choice for the office.

I do not fault Romney personally for his emotional deficiencies. I do not believe he chose to be like this. I do see this as truly a disease, and I believe he suffers because of it. I think his home life must be horrific.

It has not escaped my attention that Romney suffers from disease which will affect his performance as president, but which he endeavors to hide from us, because he is not comfortable with it himself. And yet, he insists that we gays, who are in fact normal, are a pathological group who need be prevented from having rights because we choose to be ill.

I wonder if the irony of this has occurred to him.

^T-Rexx, his own sons have said "He likes to prank, but he doesn't like to get pranked". I see that as a small comment that actually speaks volumes, when one contemplates the big picture.

I find his putting his dog on the roof even more troubling.

None of these things, by themselves, mean anything special, but when you tie all the threads together, you see a profile that really does point to some kind of sociopathy.
Only if you close you eyes and wish really, really hard.

I suggest that people read the Vanity Fair story on Mitt.

It is quite balanced. But it does underscore some of the same 'disconcerting' flaws and psychological issues we all see in this man's character in speech after speech.

In what way were the British not prepared? Perhaps you would like to give examples?

We can compare notes between someone who lives in Maryland and gets his information from the TV news and someone who doesnt live far from the Olympic Park and has been living it for seven years

yeah?

Here's proof that Romney isn't human. He's a plastic doll most likely manufactured in the Cayman Islands.

EXPOSED!

The Koch brothers shove their hands up his ass to make him speak. Sociopaths don't do too well without a rehearsed script which we've found out on his failed overseas trip. What's he going to say and do to anger the Israelis? The taste of shoe leather in his mouth must be bitter even tho they're Gucci.

I think quite possibly he was referring to the Olympic request for the government to provide actual soldiers because they failed to hire enough security personnel. Was that story completely off the mark?

It gets worse. One of Britain's leading papers, The Sun, has dubbed Romney "Mitt the Twit."

I also liked this quote from a senior British Conservative Party official, which should put to rest any notion that Romney will get along with the Brits better than Obama:

Our head is with Romney, but our heart is with Obama," the senior Tory told us, the day after Romney caused outrage in London by suggesting the city wasn't prepared to stage the 2012 Olympics. "Romney would be a fantastic CEO president but in our hearts there's connection that we all have with Obama," claimed the cabinet minister.
