Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

I love Rosie O'donnel I don't think theres anything wrong with her. Shes really outspoken and shes not scared to back down I love her on the view she was the best moderator ever

Whoopi i think shes okay but she just acts stuck up and shes really Rude to Sherri, Sherri doesn't care because shes happy to be working with a big name star. They should replace Sherri with Niecy Nash, Niecy would not put up with Whoopi rudeness

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

I loved her spots on Nip Tuck

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

I occassionally watched the view when she was on it..... and it was atleast interesting.... now if i stumble on it I am so bored after 2 minutes I have to find something else to watch.

I think its great she has an opinion and isn't afraid of sharing it... I bet more people wouldn't have such a problem with her if she was a little more attractive.

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

Madonna=icon
Streisand=icon
Elizabeth Taylor=icon
Degeneres=possible icon or icon in training.
Odonnell........eh.....not so much. Icons generally have a way of rising from the ashes of controversy like a phoenix, overcoming things that would have derailed and crushed the careers of lesser talents. They usually have some semblence of poise and grace about them(even Madge). Rosie has not bounced back from her dismissal/leaving the view and she seems to me a tad unstable and alittle flaky. Talented.....yes. Outspoken advocate for what she believes.....yes. But icon...I don't think so.

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

I've always liked Rosie I'Donnell and never had any problems with her. I think she is an ICON in her own right, based on some of the great things she does. Knock her and hate her all you want, but you have to admit, she does a lot of good things for people.

LOL, these are our "icons"? Someone define "icon" for me. Madonna I can sorta see since she pushed gay issues forward in the 80's and early 90's. But I want my gay icon to be gay. Maybe I am "icon" clueless?

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

I didn't always agree with her (I like her politics but saying 9-11 was an inside job just makes you look stupid) but I will say this for Rosie, she made the dull View worth watching! Admit it. Even if you hated her, the View was only culturally relevant when she was on. And I LOVED when she went after Elizabeth ASSelCRACK.

Whoop is ok but she's kind of boring by comparison. And her fiscal politics are odious to me.

Yeah for me that was the point where I was kinda like Really Rosie really? You let a youtube video persuade you that 9/11 was a government conspiracy... really? To me it became clear then that she's just one of those people who try to get as far to one side of the spectrum as possible even if it means sacraficing reality.

The title of the thread just said icon....it did not state that said icon had to be gay. Pardon me.

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

No she is nothing to me. I don't know her.

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

Never understood the concept of gay icons in the 1st place. I If I like an actor/actress for what ever reason I like them I don't feel attached to them and a need to worship them. I'm indifferent to Rosie as I've seen very little of her over the years.

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

I can't believe that in 30 posts no one has championed her many acts of generosity.
I like her and her humor and agree with her almost 100% politically, but I don't consider her a personal icon.
Since when does being "fat" or "ugly" define a person?.
What a shallow perception, those name callers must be faultless Adonises.
After 9/11 Rosie contributed $1 Million dollars and personally contacted George Clooney, Julia Roberst and many other headliners who matched her contribution.
The proceeds of her last book were donated to charity. She spearheads actions to protect and defend gay marriage, gay adoptions, gay families and improvment in foster child systems.
Yeah, she's a real witch, her actions are probably nothing compared to the generous contributions of her critics here and in the conservative media.

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

I liked Rosie until she started a fight with Tom Selleck on her show. That was the most uncomfortable half hour of television ever. Rosie can be a real darling, but she can also be rude and unpredictable. No, I do not consider her an icon.

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

Take out the "i", that's what she is to me...

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

rosie is not an icon to me.
she's a worthless asshole to me.

and now i'm probably a worthless asshole to you. :p

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

Rosie's bitch with Tom Selleck was because of his support of the NRA. She expressed the same concern many Americans have about gun control. She (and we ) didn't win because of the "good old boy" system.
She has condemned Woody Allen and defended Mia Farrow on the air regarding his sexcapades with their adopted minor.
She also condemned OJ Simpson.
Her beef with Trump was because of his involvement with the Miss America Pageant. Many people of both sexes feel those pageants exploit young women and she questioned his qualifications in making decisions regarding their lives and moral judgements.
She also stated he had declared bankruptcy in the past and apparently that turned out to be a lie. To the best of my knowledge that was the only time she ever lied and it was a misunderstanding and not a deliberate lie.
She is a great promoter of Broadway and has been recognized for her contributions.
I agree with her position on many issues, I admire her talent, her courage to take a stand on important issues and I applaud her renowned generosity. She consistently defends the underdog.
Her detractors probably didn't like Mother Theresa either because she wasn't physical perfection and spoke out about injustice and the needs of others.
On Judgement Day, I hope Rosie will do better at the Pearly Gates than she has in this forum.

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

I like her because I feel like she says what the hell is on her mind and she doesn't care. How great would that be to be able to do that? I am in Lousiville and am often overhearing conversations that are so dispicable, but because I need my job and my pay check cannot say what I want. She is in a position to do so. I applaud here for being a big ole dufus. For me Rosie is a wildcard that has to be played ever now and again. I love her even at her worst.

Re: Is Rosie O' Donnel an icon to you?

I don't think she's an icon, but I thought she was always really funny on her talk show.

If people see her as an icon, I think that's cool though.
