Re: I got a Tweet reply from Rosie O'Donnell.

Which joke?

"The woman she is marrying, her fiancée, was driving...and her car broke down," Letterman said Tuesday on "The Late Show." "And guess what happened? Rosie pulls up right behind her in her tow truck."`

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

I suspect OWN won't be around too much longer anyway.

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

That network isn't going to last. She should have put One Life To Live and All My Children on when she had the chance.

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

One of our Philadelphia alt-weeklies gleefully reported a little while ago that Oprah came, seeking a deal regarding OWN, to Comcast headquarters in Philadelphia. She was quickly sent away with nothing.

I've only seen Rosie's new show a few times. Many of my friends consider it terrible. One I saw was absolutely awful (games). But she had Fred Phelps' disowned son on...and THAT was great.

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

Poor RO can't seem to find her place. I'm starting to think Trump was always right about her being a failure. And me agreeing with Trump is very difficult for me to admit.

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

Right because there's other quality programming waiting to fill the slot.

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

I think Oprah thought the network would be a winner based upon her name alone. That doesn't always work. Just look at Nicholas Cage.

Last I read (about a week ago), Rosie was going to move her show from Chicago to NYC to see if she could draw the guests and boost her ratings. Guess that didn't happen.

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

Though I do not have cable or satellite TV, I can't see the show or anything on the OWN network. However I was "really" wondering why Rosie was flipping her Chicago Townhouse (you know . . . the "true" reason why she was flipping the house), when I read this article in the Business Insider a few days ago.

HOUSE OF THE DAY: Rosie O'Donnell Is Flipping This $2.5 Million Chicago Townhouse

I think your first sentence is the correct assessment. She's certainly not untalented. But in all these years, she's had trouble finding a good "fit" for her strengths with the job description. She reminds me of several other people I know - and come to think of it, hell, I'm going to go ahead and put myself into that group. We have a rather unusual set of strengths and weaknesses, and it's not easy to find a ready-made job for us. I can't speak for Rosie, but it ends up my friends and I generally end up doing a fair amount of slumming. Instead of one job, we do a bunch of small ones. Each one uses a different aspect or strength of our personality, so we don't feel some part of us is being "held down". It means smaller paychecks, but it means happier gargoyles.

And yes, some people consider us "failures" because of this. Again, can't speak for others, but I don't give a fuck. :)

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

Rosie has never had a decent show. They all crashed and burned. Oprah's network isn't going to be around until the end of the year, I suspect. There's too much competition.

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

New Cable Networks arent a HIT over-night..It takes years to see a hint of success...CNN, MTV, BET and countless other networks were believed to be doomed from the begining but they found their way with TONS of crapy shows, crapy hosts, after hour infomercials and the like....This is all normal for any new Network......We're DEEP in the Age of Reality TV...It makes me SICk to see how Reality TV is the "norm" and because it's so CHEAP to create & produce it's now a mainstay......Oprah has to figure what type of Reality and other programing works best for the Network...

There are Zillions of Cable networks trying to find a following. Those struggling Networks are still around because of the deals they make with the Satellite and Cable companies...If OWN goes away it wont be because of bad ratings it will be because Oprah has given up..Oprah doesnt give up so easily on her Mega projects...Her old talk show is proof of that.....

I Love Rosie....her show wasnt bad at all...The Game segment was a flop and should have been a featured segment every blue-moon......Rosie connecting to the audience and with the featured guests is where she still succeeded...I thought the new changes were good and I was looking forward to seeing the show move to New York and continue to spin out shows...

A Daily talk show is expensive to put on the air...Weekly series are a much better fit since OWN is so new....

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

Oprah prolly thought she could carry a network just cause she's Oprah and everyone would support her, just cause she's Oprah. I guess that's not working out so well. Rosie actually had a decent radio show on Sirus Out Q radio. I listened to it a few times and didn't hate it. She turned me off with her maniacal rantings a few years ago. So I'm not too surprised that nobody watched her show....

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

Its not surprising, Rosie show was doomed to fail from the start, I love Rosie but its not surprising her show was up against Wheel And Jeopardy at 7pm. Her show had 3 format changes which didn't work and it was on a cable network just starting out. And her show took a 3 week break as well. Rosie had offers from major networks to do her show and she chose struggling Own. And she had hour long segments for old actors which were boring.

I don't think Rosie is cursed or anything its just the fact that she made the wrong choice and look what happened.

Re: Rosie O'Donnell's TV show canceled by OWN

I don't think OWN is going away. Oprah's partner is Discovery Communications and they are really the ones calling the shots.

They have a huge library to fill the channel.

Remember when Ro hosted VH1's "Night @ the IMPROV" back in the 90's? I think she should go back to that format and let the talk show thing go....She left her talk show years ago it didnt leave her..That was her biggest career mistake.....

I knew she was gonna struggle on "The View' because she has a bigger than life mouth/personality and that doesnt work in an ensemble setting...Look at Whoppie...Whoopie struggles with some of the things the other ladies say but she forces herself to be a "player" and being "Moderator" allows her to have some control...I wouldnt care to watch if Whoopie wasnt on there...Babs, joy, Liz, & Ditzy Sherrie is not enough to carry that show...Rosie gave ABC the "ratings" they hired her to get...Cable is a whole'notha ballgame...

You might be surprised to learn how many JUBERS and people around the world who don't have cable/satellite because its one less Bill they need...So cable talk shows will always struggle or have very low ratings....

Right. A lot of younger people I know are only paying for internet when they move into their own place; it's cheaper, and it has all the video, music etc you need. The entertainment industry is going to be forced to adapt to this if they want to keep their profits up.
