Russian Invasion of Ukraine

Yes, it is Europe's problem and they should handle it.

Europe didn’t guarantee their security after they gave up their nuclear weapons we did along with Great Britain, do we bare no responsibility for our failure to honor that guarantee when they were invaded?

Yes, it is Europe's problem and they should handle it.
It became our problem when we ENGINEERED the Trilateral Agreement.

WE negotiated Ukraine giving up its nuclear arsenal, and it cost them everything.

WE signed a compact promising their security and integrity, and then we shrugged when Russia took Crimea.

If we're going to become a champion of Russia, I would welcome our fall. Whatever we are, it is evil when we stoop to do Trump's corrupt vendetta, and Putin's.

So you were watching it on RT then?
On a related note... guess who was admitted to the White House, allowed into the Oval Office and was live-streaming the "press op" today?

Ooopsie... the White House Press Office "accidentally" approved a Russian State media (and likely KGB agent) into the White House and the Oval Office today. "Our bad". 🤷‍♂️

In a normal White House, the head of the Secret Service would be called to testify in front of Congress. People in the White House would have been fired.

A member of Russia’s state-owned news agency gained access to the Oval Office on Friday to cover President Trump’s sit-down with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky – even as the AP and Reuters were barred from the high-level meeting. The White House said the journalist was not authorized to be in the press pool.

A correspondent for TASS, a Russian state media organization, was among a group of hand-picked pool reporters present in the Oval Office for the leaders’ meeting, which is part of the US’ efforts to end Russia’s war in Ukraine. The testy Trump-Zelensky sit-down may yield a signed deal that would exchange US access to Ukraine’s mineral resources for security guarantees.

The New York Post headline.. "sneaked". How the fuck does someone "sneak" into the Oval Office? They won't allow Associated Press or Reuters to attend events in the Oval Office, but Russian State Media is allowed?

Russian state media reporter sneaks into Oval Office for heated Trump-Zelensky meeting before he’s booted out by Secret Service

The reporter for TASS – one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s top propaganda outlets – was not on the pre-approved pool list but somehow made his way into the Oval Office for the Trump-Zelensky showdown with journalists from Bloomberg, CNN, Reuters, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and other outlets.

“TASS was not on the approved list of media for today’s pool,” a White House official said in a statement. “As soon as it came to the attention of press office staff that he was in the Oval, he was escorted out by the Press Secretary. He is not on the approved list for the press conference.”

I watched It and I thought it was great! Finally, we have an American president willing to stand up to these petty little dictators and put them in their places. Bravo!
Dictator? In my opinion, it is no longer an option for Europe to cozy up to an autocrat in the White House. Sorry, but I'm not talking about the American people. A decades-long partnership is coming to an end. Europe must concentrate on itself. We here maintain good contacts with many countries. Economically, Europe must consider whether it is not better to make the best of things now, also with China and India and Canada. Above all, get out of Nato quickly. Anything else would be chumming up and submitting. We will have a lot of problems here. But so will the USA.

Nothing is stopping the UK, France, Germany, and other countries from sending in ground troops and joining the fight.
That has been my argument all along, although it should have been with US support if not troops.

The fact that Europe claims Ukraine is Europe, but doesn't defend her neighbor, NATO notwithstanding, is a contradiction. Words are cheap.

If Ukrainian lives and soil are not worth fighting for, then you undermine the concept that Europe is ever worth fighting for. Sell your brother to Egypt, then you are the evil one.

If even France can see fit to send even military advisers in with technology and weaponry, Putin is taking a very different gamble about WWIII. Wars don't stick to the script, and once you have Poles or French or Norwegians on the ground, we are on to WWIII.

At this point, I'd very much welcome it.

If the US is determined to abandon support of Ukraine, then we are sanctioning imperial conquest and WE have become the enemy.

It's one thing to see carnage in our schools and cultural decline across the country. It's enttirely another to see a patent compulsive liar and his toadie in the White House attempting to extort Ukraine WHILE it is fighting for its life. If we're going to become the Sith, then bring on the asteroid. We need to perish.

I would welcome Canadian forces backstopping Ukraine sooner rather than later...as will be inevitable when rrrzzia finally attacks a NATO member state.

In the meantime, knowing that Canada is also about to be trashed by the Trump regime to make American middle class and lower class pay more for everything in order to offset the tax cuts, the Prime Minister
quickly joined other world leaders in expressing commitment to and support for Ukraine.

Nothing is stopping the UK, France, Germany, and other countries from sending in ground troops and joining the fight.

Nothing is stopping North Korea from sending in ground troops and joining the fight either. o_O

So following Trump's naked water carrying for Putin, the Kremlin attacked a Ukraine hospital because they know that the US is out of the game.

What needs to happen is for Ukraine and remaining supporting countries to hit back big and hard. To kill as many Vatniks, destroy as much rrrzzn infrastructure and equipment as possible before being forced to capitulate.

Question - At any point since deciding to provide aid to the Ukraine did the previous administration ever say "Oh by the way we expect you to pay us back"?

The thing with reparations and recovering costs...they should be paid by rrrZZZZia, not the country that was invaded.

Yet we don't hear any of that kind of talk.

I would also note that if the US hadn't tied the hands of Ukraine in terms of range of weapon use, the war would have ended a lot sooner (kerch bridge for example).

And finally, if Ukraine was successful, the US would have the best chance of recouping their 'investment' in the reconstruction and business partnerships.

Now, all that is gone because of the naked strong-arming by TrumpCo.

I apologize that I don't have a source for this. Neither did the person who posted it on FB and even searching text, I couldn't find the original author. If anyone finds who originally wrote this, please share.

This is what we saw in the Oval Office.

“From this analysis, it becomes evident that we have witnessed a true masterclass in gaslighting, manipulation, and coercion on the part of Trump and his entourage. Let’s break down the key points:

1. Blaming the victim for their own situation
Trump explicitly tells Zelensky: “You have allowed yourself to be in a very bad position.” This is classic abuser rhetoric—blaming the victim for their suffering. The implication is that Ukraine itself is responsible for being occupied by Russia and for the deaths of its people.

2. Pressure and coercion into ‘gratitude’
Vance demands that Zelensky say “thank you.” This is an extremely toxic tactic—forcing the victim to express gratitude for the help they desperately need, only to later accuse them of ingratitude if they attempt to assert their rights.

3. Manipulating the concept of ‘peace’
Trump claims that Zelensky is “not ready for peace.” However, what he actually means is Ukraine’s capitulation. This is a classic manipulation technique—substituting the idea of a just peace with the notion of surrender.

4. Refusing to acknowledge the reality of war
Trump repeatedly insists that Zelensky has “no cards to play” and that “without us, you have nothing.” This is yet another abusive tactic—undermining the victim’s efforts by asserting that they are powerless without the mercy of their ‘saviour.’

5. Devaluing the victims of war
“If you get a ceasefire, you must accept it so that bullets stop flying and your people stop dying,” Trump says. Yet, he ignores the fact that a ceasefire without guarantees is merely an opportunity for Russia to regroup and strike again.

6. Dominance tactics
Trump constantly interrupts Zelensky, cutting him off: “No, no, you’ve already said enough,” and “You’re not in a position to dictate to us.” This is deliberate psychological pressure designed to establish a hierarchy in which Zelensky is the subordinate.

7. Forcing capitulation under the guise of ‘diplomacy’
Vance asserts that “the path to peace lies through diplomacy.” This is a classic strategy where the aggressor is given the opportunity to continue their aggression unchallenged.

8. Projection and distortion of reality
Trump declares: “You are playing with the lives of millions of people.” Yet, in reality, it is he who is doing exactly that—shifting responsibility onto Zelensky.

9. Creating the illusion that Ukraine ‘owes’ the US
Yes, the US is assisting Ukraine, but presenting this aid as “you must obey, or you will receive nothing” is not a partnership—it is financial and military coercion.

10. Undermining Ukraine’s resistance
Trump states that “if it weren’t for our weapons, this war would have ended in two weeks.” This is an attempt to erase Ukraine’s achievements and portray its efforts as entirely dependent on US support.

Conclusion
Trump and his team employed the full spectrum of abusive tactics: gaslighting, victim-blaming, coercion into gratitude, and manipulation of the concepts of peace and diplomacy.

This was not a negotiation—it was an attempt to force Zelensky into accepting terms beneficial to the US but potentially fatal for Ukraine.”

And just another reminder:

“Trump, Vance & others either have forgotten or never knew that Zelensky signed a ceasefire agreement with Putin in 2019. Three years later, Putin launched his full-scale invasion. So, signing another ceasefire with no security guarantees feels like suicide for Ukrainians.” - mike mcfaul

Just a reminder that Ukraine supported the US in Afghanistan.
