Russian Invasion of Ukraine

Since rrrzzzia has dragged the North Koreans into the fight and Trump has made it clear he works for Putin, the rules have changed.

And just another reminder:

“Trump, Vance & others either have forgotten or never knew that Zelensky signed a ceasefire agreement with Putin in 2019. Three years later, Putin launched his full-scale invasion. So, signing another ceasefire with no security guarantees feels like suicide for Ukrainians.” - mike mcfaul
Zelenskyy in the Oval Office specifically cited this when asking Vance what kind of diplomacy he was referring to. Rightly, Zelenskyy was citing incontrovertible proof that Putin was merely buying time to position his takeover.

This also explains plainly why both Vance and Trump went high order, because nothing is as stinging as the truth in a forum where bluster, bullshit, and bullheaded denial of facts is the norm, as it always is when Trump is waving his little hands and bragging.

Putin re-rattles his sword, and Europe should ignore it.

He threatened WWIII if Finland joined NATO, yet we aren't WWIII. Yet.

Europe (and Canada) will be seriously reconsidering their defense purchases.

There's a valuable lesson here. Being dependent on equipment that is totally linked into the US could be deadly.

Now that Putin has responded to Trump’s ceasefire/peace proposal perhaps we’ll get to see the master negotiator in action, let’s hope it pleases him more than his negotiation on the USMCA did. Sadly for such a master negotiator his mouth and circumstances have placed him in a tough position. First off he wants a deal more than Putin does and Putin knows it, big mistake. Second what I recall most about the White House meeting between Zelensky and Trump/Vance was how much leverage they had and how they enjoyed throwing it in Zelensky’s face.

This time it’s different because Putin has all the leverage both knowing Trumps desire for a deal and having the superior military position on the ground. Putin will slow walk everything while the ever impatient Trump will push him to move faster to no avail.

I don’t know what Trump’s or else might be but my advice to him is to study up on those WW2 conferences with the Big 3, Putin is in the role of Stalin with his armies already occupying the land they claim but Trump is not FDR who did have leverage but rather Winston Churchill who did not and so Poland was lost. In most instances and certainly here Trump would be better off if he kept his mouth shut.

Never gonna happen. If there's one thing Trump doesn't do, is study history. He HEARS criticisms made by pundits like Tucker Carlson, and then he repeats them. He is no original thinker. Were he to read, he'd be looking for where Stalin and Hitler made mistakes, not where Churchill outmaneuved them, as he would view Great Britain as a weak nation.

A thought occurred to me just now as I listened to Bill Browder in the video below. If NATO is at the point of effectively dissolving, there is NOTHING to prevent Europe, and Canada, and Australia and others to form a new alliance which Ukraine could join. Putin can saber rattle all he likes about Ukraine not joining NATO, especially knowing the US controls NATO, but were the new alliance to form, Putin is not ready to begin WWIII, especially now that he's overextended himself with the 3-day military exercise from Hell.

Trump may become the albatross around Putin's neck, and vice versa.

In no small irony, it's becoming evident that Trump's cronyism may be coming back to haunt him.

First, General Kellogg was barred from negotiations on Ukraine by the Russians AFTER Trump appointed him as a loyal lackey, to be his Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia. He was supposedly too close to Ukraine, so the Russians forbid him from negotiating and Trump kowtowed and did not send him to Arabia or Moscow.

Now, Special Envoy to the Mideast Witkoff has apparently been denied meeting directly with Putin, clearly indicating the Russians disdained his status, and why not? He's only had experience in real estate.

What a zoo.

Now, Trump is backing off his campaign promise to end the war in 24 hours (although I have NO doubt he'll still claim it in retrospect). Odious indeed.

Well since a day is no longer a calendar day in the US Congress, he can back his claim up with this.

Everything makes sense if you just remember that Trump is a rrrzzzXXXian asset.

So how'd that work out for ya Trump? I thought this was all over on Day One?

Trump think s the US should run Ukraine's nuclear power plants.

Canada has announced that it is stepping in to repair Ukraine's power systems after the US seems to have withdrawn support..

hmmmm...who would you choose after Trump trashed Ukraine's president? btw CANDU still remins the safest nuclear tech in the world, I beleive. The US gave us 3 mile island and the USSR gave us Chernobyl.

Trump has a problem he wants a quick ceasefire leading to a fast peace but Putin desires neither. One man is impatient the other is not, it doesn’t take a Vegas bookie to see where the smart money is going.

Exactly. Putin wants not only all of Ukraine, he wants eastern Europe at his feet as well.

Trump is is useful idiot and complete stooge...eager to score his pay-out on the back end of a deal and get cut in on the spoils gained so far in the Donbas and Crimea.

Trump needs this war to end because the longer it goes on, the more it damages his potential success for annexing Greenland, Panama and Canada.

He needs a show that stealing territory is okay.

The biggest mistake he made? Losing Europe along the way. And treating Zelensky like shit.

It has just hardened the resolve to make rrrZZZia pay for their invasion. And to continue to weaken them militarily and economically.

You’re completely right although he didn’t so much loose Europe as he ditched them. Trump probably still thinks that White House charade was good TV but now it’s time to pay for it.
