Russian Invasion of Ukraine

Zelenskyi:

"Our active preventive defense is the most effective countermeasure against Russian terror and ensuring a real complication of the situation for the aggressor state. And secondly, we now have an extremely important ideological change, namely: the whole naive, illusory concept of the so-called red lines in relation to Russia, which dominated the assessments of the war by some partners, crumbled these days somewhere under Sudzha"

Ukraine has already taken out one of the pontoon bridges over the Sejm River.

Surprisingly...relatively few major pieces of equipment captured and destroyed as Ukraine takes over parts of Kursk...leading one to surmise it is almost all pushed to the active front,
or rrrzzzia never anticipated an actual defense excpet for trenches just to the east of the border.

That's because there is no equipment of note in Kursk.

The oil storage Depot in rrrZZia that Ukraine struck 4 days ago is still burning uncontrollably. 22 fuel silos out of 70 are in flames and the fire services have apparently given up even trying to control the blaze.

Ridiculous misinformation.

The government has banned any Orthodox Church from being part of the Moscow Patriarchate which is actually a branch of the Kremlin FSB under the control of an irreligious former KGB officer. Over the last two years Ukraine has evicted many Orthodox priests who actually were spies and functionaries for the Kremlin.

All Orthodox Churches will now be required to be in communion with the Ukranian Orthodox Church.

This article above was misleading and absurd.

Here is the basics

...The bill creates the legal tools for the government to ban the activities of any religious group deemed to be too closely connected to Russia or to support its invasion of Ukraine...

Basically, the church in question was a part of the Russian Orthodox Church, and when the other Orthodox Churches in Ukraine broke away from the Russian church, they didn't and some of the priests were caught spying for Russia and participating in subversion activities.

From the above article:

Moscow Patriarch Kirill, who oversees the Russian Orthodox Church, has portrayed the war as part of a metaphysical struggle against the West and gay pride parades. In March, Kirill oversaw a council that declared Russia's invasion a “holy war" in defense of the region's “single spiritual space.” The document claims Russia is protecting the world from "globalism and the victory of the West that has fallen into Satanism.”

So ideologically, this move the Ukrainian Church away from the right wing religious extremism being promoted by Kirill, who has led the charge to stamp out homosexual rights in rrrXXZia over the last decade and should make becoming part of the European Union easier.

I think that in the end, Ukraine has been more than patient with a religious body that literally represents an existential threat to the exisitence of their country.

Reality disagrees with you, argue with it.

...ZeroHedge’s content has been classified as “alt-right” and has been criticized for presenting conspiracy theories. In review, ZeroHedge publishes pro-right wing/Trump articles such as Pat Buchanan: “Trump Calls Off Cold War II.” As well as fake news stories regarding liberals: Anti-Trump Protesters Bused Into Austin, Chicago...

Overall, we rate ZeroHedge an extreme right-biased conspiracy website based on the promotion of false/misleading/debunked information that routinely denigrates the left. (8/18/2016) Updated (M. Huitsing 10/30/2023)

I think that explains a lot of what you say.

So now I'm curious about that other "source," who turns out to be another alt-right douchebag.

...Theodore Robert Beale (born August 21, 1968), commonly known as Vox Day, is an American activist and writer. He has been described as a far-right white supremacist, a misogynist, and part of the alt-right. The Wall Street Journal described him as "the most despised man in science fiction"...

Listen carefully, these are not sources of information, they are purveyors of propaganda and disinformation. Be careful what you post from the alt-right, one hint of their bigotry and you will feel the wrath of Mod.

You'd better hope people like this don't find out you like dick.

I couldn't even be bothered with VOX...it is just another Putin stooge disinformation tool...the far right in the US have decided that they would prefer a Ruski Mir, with a whole lot of Kremlin assets running the government as a fascist oligarchical kleptocracy like rrrZZZia.

And I don't care if you do or do not.

But if you rely on utter shite sources for your arguments, you will be fact checked HARD in CE&P.

After 18 years here, I have seen some of the worst far right alt.reality garbage trucked out as 'sources'.

CE&P on JUB is different than on some of the other sites where the right wingers just throw anything at the wall and see what sticks.

There is also the expectation that in CE&P, we do more than post articles...some personal commentary on your own analysis or position would be helpful in order to move a discussion forward.

I say that, knowing full well that on some days I am just posting updates on info fed to us on-line about the progess of the invasion of Ukraine by the Aggressor 'state' rrrzzzia.

More than anything Putin wants to look strong, as in a strong wartime leader but with the incursion into Kursk and the lack of a response from Putin he looks weak and indecisive. He has rattled his nuclear threat in the past but not when actual foreign troops are fighting in Russian territory which makes the prior threat look like a hollow one.

He has never fought to win, never put all Russian resources into the battle and there must be a reason. Sitting here now I’m beginning to wonder if the reason is he can’t because I believe he wants to. I believe he wanted to squash those soldiers in his territory on day one and then boast about it but he didn’t. He looks flat footed and even if he does eventually respond he missed his chance to appear to be the superior power.

In another country the idea of a coup wouldn’t be out of the question but unlikely here. That invasion is like a Southwest commercial and Putin is the one who wants to get away.

His Chosen General Lapin really fucked this one up by weakening the defensive capability in Kursk about a month ago....If I were Lapin...I wouldn't drink tea or get near windows either.

At the moment, Putin is still likely able to conceal this humialiating turn of events because of the control the Kremlin exerts on the media, but he has to hope that the trapped soldiersw and population of Kursk just don't throw in the towel and give up to the Ukrainians en masse.

And he'd better hope that the dispossessed don't start to complain in Mosow about having lost everything when all the Ruskis likely expected that they would take Kiev in 3 days.

We are lucky that Putin has enough sense not to fall for Zelinksy's attempts to provoke a world war. Putin does not want to be the one who blows up the world. I think Zelinsky would love to start WW3.

Ukraine is not the aggressor here. Zelenskyy has every right to defend his country in every way possible. If that includes incursions into the country who is attacking him and who started this war in the first place, then he totally justified in doing so, in my view.

UA now has pretty much gained control of Kornevo supply routes, cutting off rail to the northeast and further isolating the southern district.
