saddest song you ever heard?

Today My World Slipped Away - George Strait

so sad...

A song on the album "Moonshadow" by Labelle entitled "If I Can't Have You".
It is set to start off as this very moving gospel-like song, but then you realize it's a song about a realtionship gone awry. All of the elements are there involving broken trust, mistreatment, denial........sigh...for a little over three minutes Patti Labelle (lead vocals ,and does she lead OMG!!!),Nona Hendryx and Sara Dash( background vocals)....awesome song!!! You can feel the hurt and pain. SIGH!!!!!!Tight musicians on Hammond organ,guitar,bass......you gotta get this one!!!!It has been re-issued on CD ( originally on vinyl on Warner/ Reprise) I got mine on-line from DustyGrooves.

Ok a couple things to say, can the person who put the lyrics to "You" from Evanescence up, please take them down. Amy Lee has asked that no one even listens to this song, or put up lyrics as it is private to her. It was actually stolen from her and put online and she is asking that it be (song itself, and lyrics) taken off the internet.

Also, the saddest song I have heard is (already mentioned before somewhere) "Hello" from Evanescence. The power of Amy's voice is amazing, and you can feel every emotion that she had while writing this song, through both her words, and her vocals. I guess this song meant a lot to her since it was written for her sister who had passed away. Amy gets so emotional during that this song that she can't even play it live in concerts because its too personal to her.

Whenever Im feeling down [a lot last year-getting over it now], I always listened to; Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares To You

The video's amazing also - Really moving. Beautiful song.

Alone Again (Naturally) - Gilbert O'Sullivan - sorry if it's been said

Has anyone heard of the group "Olive"??

Their second album has a really sad song called "smile"

Both albums are amazing though.

I love that song, I heard that song on the WB'S tv show 'Popular.'
STRANGELY, one of my song choices sortof pair up with that one. On the second season DVD, they replaced all the original songs, and the replacement for that one was some song that I've been looking everywhere for. Here's some of the lyrics (very difficult to interprete, so I sortof added in some words to try give myself something to actually say when I have the song stuck in my head:

"Whether I've got a ways to go,
I'm high above the patchwork of Ohio.
I should be without my rout and raw soul,
but at the rate I'm goin'...
...I don't know.

I feel like I don't remember,
And I search for you in the patterned nest below.
But is it summer air or snow?

Whether I've got a ways to go,
Like your old mother did back in Milwaukke.
I'm high above...
...the patchwork of Ohio.
Tryin' to find the sense to end my ariel."

God, that's sad! A lost soul.

Some other of my most melancholy tunes are:

"In The Air Tonight" -Phil Collins
"All I Know" -Art Garfunkel
"Answer" -Sarah Mcluaghlin (never known how to spell her last name)

Modjo's "Lady Hear Me Tonight" always makes me really sad. It reminds me of going back to school after what had been a really great summer. And bear in mind I went to an all-boys school, something most of you would probably look forward to.

Johnny Cash - Hurt. This song is very sad, watching the video and the power in the music...it made tears come to my eyes when I first heard it.

Travellin Soldier by The Dixie Chicks as well is very sad.

I thought this was a saddest songs thread, not a saddest thing to say thread... my mistake.

Oh, and 'Bye Bye Baby' by the BCR for your info.

not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet...but there's a remix of the song "heaven" by DJ Sammy. even though its originally a club track, this remix is slow, and sad, and there's a little girl that talks about how she'll see her dad some day; her dad who died in the 9/11 WTO attacks. its gotta be one of the saddest things i've ever heard. but its probably not one of those commiserate to get through the day kind of songs....
