3 dead including the shooter, 8 injured. This school is only a mile from my house. I didn't even know about it until was on my way to the grocery store across the street from the school, and all the streets were blocked by police. Police, thankfully, took the guy down quickly.

No names and not many details yet. Not a good day. I am so angry. This keeps happening and nothing ever changes. :mad:

3 dead, including suspect, after shooting at South City high school; all SLPS schools on ‘hard lockdown’

St. Louis Metropolitan Police (SLMPD) said the call for the shooting came out around 9:10 a.m. Officers arrived as students were running from the building. The shooter was reportedly armed with a long gun. Police told News 4 that officers encountered the shooter and exchanged shots. The shooter, who police said is a man around 20 years old, was shot and killed.

Is there some kind of profile of the shooters that can connect them all and maybe understand and get insight to help prevent this?
 
Is there any common denominator? Any characteristics, other than anger, that the shooters seem to share? Obviously, the availability of guns is a big factor, but not the only factor.

They seem unable to process anger, or to find any outlet other than violence. It's likely a very complex issue with each case having differences. What is not complicated is how simple it is to get deadly weapons.

American men are fed a steady diet of violence from the moment they're born. Not video games or movies, hatred towards everyone and especially towards themselves. There's a perpetual cloud of angst hanging over most men in this country and the truth is many of them are just one break-up or bad day away from being the next shooter. Coupled with our almost total lack of access to competent mental healthcare and a resurgence of 1900s tribalism where anybody of a different color or political belief is "a dangerous evil enemy that must be dstroyed" it's the perfect storm for mass shootings. And worst of all, they post their murder manifestos online, publicly parading their fetish for mass killing because police are too busy in.... other endeavors, to be monitoring home grown terrorists. For fuck's sake the Highland Park shooter had music videos about mass shootiners and rap songs on itunes but nobody was watching him.

But all of this is to be expected. This nation was literally born in bloodshed. If we take away the folksy dishonest nursery rhymes about brave explorers, this country is basically a house that someone broke into, murdered everyone, claimed the home as their own, then spent the next 300 years glorifying themselves for doing so. We have murderers on our currency and schools named after them. It's a point of pride for America, hell even our national anthem glorifies violence.
 
Fortunately, all the other injuries in this incident are not life-threatening and everyone is expected to be fine, at least physically.

What we do know at this point is the shooter 19-year-old Orlando Harris, who was black, graduated last year from this school and had a mental health history.
15-year-old black female student Alexandria Bell was killed. She was into art and dance.
61-year-old white female teacher Jean Kuczka was killed. The paper is reporting she stood between the gunman and her students.

My current Missouri House Rep Lakeysha Frazier Bosley had Jean Kuczka as a teacher and wrote a nice FB post speaking highly of her.

No motive is known yet.

Also the perversion of the American concepts of "rights" and "freedom". Just like the rat lickers revolted during the covid lockdowns because they had a "right" to get a haircut, angry, ill and disaffected little white men believe they have a "right" to their catharsis.
