CNN and other sources are announcing that Gov. Palin plans to resign on July 26.

This is pretty astonishing. Previous reports had stated that she would announce that she would not run for re-election in 2010.

I wonder what the scandal is that brought her down? Ethics? An affair?

I don't think any scandal is involved. I think she is definitely planning to run for prez in 2012. She is probably stepping down to dedicate her time preparing for the long campaign.

I live here and best I can gather, recent campaign email revelations were just straw that broke camels back. Another rumor is new baby needs more attention so 'family' is going to be the reason.

Stay tuned I am sure it will be entertaining. <sigh>

Only bright spot of her continuing to the 2012 campaign is that it guarantees the Republicans won't win. Sorry, just trying to find a bright spot to the embarrassment over our Governor. :)

Yes, it seems this could be her signal for preparation for the 2012 presidency. It's terrifying, and I hope that when the time comes, if this is her plan, that she doesn't even get the Republican nomination. To have Sarah Palin as a presidential candidate, and have actual hope of winning, is a scary thought.

She's not resigning. She isn't going to run for governor again.

If the politics of Alaska is too tough for her I don't see how she'll survive the presidential primary season.

At this point, any speculation on Palin's plans after she resigns on July 26th, is just that; speculation.

Here's a link to video of her announcement. She's manic:

A prelude to a Presidential run in 2012? Maybe - as Coachmn states it's only speculation at this point. Still, I find the timing odd. Why make such an announcement on a Friday afternoon of a major holiday weekend? And, even if she is planning a run in 2012, why step down as Governor so early?

In any event, I suggest the following campaign slogan:

Palin 2012 - Vote for the Quitter!

Yeah. All I can say is that if she gets the nomination, she'd better make sure she has a competent Veep candidate. ;)

I read somewhere she is planning to get out of politics completely.

Sounds to me like someone found some real dirt on her.

I saw the LIVE Press conference that she gave in front of 5 towns-people that were eating corn-dogs as she "rambled" all over the place....

Did you guys see how emotional and "un-steady" she seemed?

I wrote her off as an "opportunist" way-back-when...Someone has something on her and that is why her Ass is resigning after serving 2yrs as Gov...

Sara was NOT ready to be ANYBODYS Vice President. She PROVED today that she was NOT ready to be Gov...And everyone NOW sees she will NEVER be Presidential Material...

The Republican Party is DESTROYED and Month after Month they bury themselves deeper and deeper...

I wonder what they have on her? It MUST be juicy.
