Scare of sleep

People are less afraid ot death itself, it is the uncertain they fear.

Of course that is simplistic, but it is the main point of it.

As Sokrates said: Perhaps death is the best thing that will ever happen to you, you don´t know, and because you don´t know it is unlogical to fear it.

So "Death" is just the word for this uncertain thing nobody knows about.

It's that uncertainty that contributes alot to my bad sleeping habits. I CANNOT just lie down and attempt to go to sleep, because of all the things that start floating through my head when I do. I kinda hate my life, so I'm actual not too concerned with death...just whatever comes after. Almost had a full-blown panic attack once, as I lay there considering all the possibilities.

Thats nothing strange, can also happen when you lay somewhere in the dark and watch the stars above you...suddenly being aware of the fact that you sit on a planet that rushes trough the universe with extreme speed, some hundred °C hot where the sun hits you and some hundred °C below zero where it doesnt and billions of asteroids, rocks, frozen gaspieces etc that could destroy earth within seconds....and some other intresting effects I will not bring up now ;)

Either you stop thinking, or you go trough your panic until you realize that this is nothing to be scared of. You don´t have to be scared about it because you have no influence on this while there are thousands of other things you have control over to make your life worthwhile. Concentrate on those.

I never think of this....

But it is interesting that in a sense we are practicing "death". But, hey, if we wake up, then that must mean that we don't completely die, right?

I always thought of death as flicking the off switch.
Is that depressing?

The self-medicating's probably a bad idea in the long run, huh?

Since medications in this (and most other cases of psychological problems) just ease the symptoms without even touching the cause and roots.....yep, bad idea.

because I'm addicted to my sleeping pill ..|
can't sleep wtout it ! 25 mg per day, 50 for troubled mind

but I guess I know what makes me unable to dream :(

1 - Sleeping pills will kill you before sleep will.

2 - If you don't dream, you DO die! (That is a fact.) You dream. You just don't remember them.
