:(

why is that? all the men in my family as far as i know hairlines were straight but yet my brother's and mine are all fucked up. could it be the gym, hair grease usage, the barbers (which i'm going to call it because some of these barbers dunno how to cut for shit) or something environmental? i'm only 25.

Male pattern baldness is passed on from your mother's side. What was/is you maternal grandfather's hairline like?

If I may paraphrase my favorite H.S. English teacher: "If they wouldn't love you without hair, they won't love you with hair either. Smile. :D

Balding is purely associated with genetics and it has nothing to do with wearing caps, shampoos, hair gels and environment--unless you were exposed to radiation at Fukushima. :D My identical twin friends have finished reaching that full male pattern baldness and they're 26 now. Then we had a kid in high school who was halfway bald by 18. My father, like his brothers, was completely bald by 24. But I'm holding out well at least for now (knock on wood.) My maternal grandfather was not bald, and my mother's brothers in their mid 40s and 50s now are not balding either.
Some studies link the balding gene through our mother's genes; though our mothers are carriers and don't go bald themselves. I think it's kinda of 50/50 thing from both of our parents. At least there are options to stop hair loss and if you start early, you can keep the hair you have now.

Hair loss in my family is quite bad and sets in early enough (mid twenties). What can you do stop hair loss other than rogaine or something similar?
I'm actually really interested to know:)

Research at home laser therapies.

Don't do the "Comb" though. The sooner you start the better it will be. I've seen some ridiculous success with one type in particular.

The lasers increase blood flow to the scalp stopping any further hair loss and bringing back lost ground.

Since you are young your palipa (spelling?) is probably still in tact and your hair will regrow.

If it doesn't you can invest in a Neograft.

Weave.....it's simple....expensive if done right....but simple and not horrible to maintain other than touch ups and the every three month change up.

I started going bald at age 18. but it's been a REALLY slow process. I just wear it proudly - it's said to be a sign of excess testosterone. :)

I'm not too familiar with what works and what doesn't to stop hair loss, but I'm sure there is wealth of information and forums that are out there on this subject. I would seek an experienced doctor who is board certified in hair loss treatment to guide me instead of trying every gadget and magic solution that is sold over the counter and then losing hope when they don't work well. I guess non prescription Rogaine can be a good start.

I'm 25 too and I have a receding hairline. It's okay...the world won't end.

Nothing wrong with a receding hairline. If some guy won't date you because you are losing hair, they deserve to be alone for being so shallow.

Try having my fivehead and then we'll talk...

:( DAMN.... i need to take some estrogen then.

fuck them. i love me with hair on my head to the point where the hairline is not back to the top of my head.

You can have some of my testosterone, lord knows I get angry more than I need too.

no, do you have estrogen? give me that.

see, there's a difference. when you're good looking, nobody gives a fuck such as your case. it compliments your look. when you're ugly like me, it just makes it even worse.

Start buzz-cutting your hair, or shaving your head (if you have the head for it). Unless you can pull off a decent hairdoo with a receding hairline.

All men on either side of my parents family have full heads of hair even into their old age. (my grandfather on my fathers side went through chemotherapy at 85, lost all his hair and grew it back ridiculously quickly too).

SO I think genetically I am fairly safe for it, however I keep my hair buzzed and short 90% of the time anyways, so if my hairline does recede, I've got my preferred 'doo' started. I don't have the head for shaved though, only trimmed short.

gotta look into this option because i have a big ass head so the bald head look isn't going to work. i wouldn't look right.
